I have my late fathers standard gauge train. I would like to know who you guys would recommend to repair the engine and get it running.

MELVIN: Please some photos, when it is convenient for you to do so. We can better advise you if you can provide the engine and car numbers! THANK YOU!
Joe Mania is the best of the best for repairs.

There are several other reputable and qualified dealers who are also Forum Sponsors, such as Hennings, who can do both electrical and mechanical repairs on Lionel standard gauge trains. Parts are also readily available for these vintage trains from several suppliers.

I am out of town but I can do this when I get back.

I will check with Hennings. This would be a mail to them but have no problem with that as I can pack well.
Having original boxes is sometimes helpful, but packing "back in the day" left much to be desired! Later 1930's packing was more improved from the 1920's.

I have all the original boxes for the set and the carton that all the boxes came in, in great shape. Dad took care of things as do I.
That is very good news! The original carton is a nice bonus as well.
Will you take some photos of your set and post them here when it is convenient for you? THANKS!
