Most appliances have been removed and rebuilt. Turbogenerator has been upgraded to 800 watts. Boiler jacketing has been chalked into sections for removal to be used as patterns for new jacketing fabrication. Asbestos abatement team will arrive shortly to completely remove same and decontaminate the engine. All siderods and valve gear have been removed and are being carefully cleaned for close inspection for any stress cracks. Superheater tube removal and inspection will be forthcoming. Cab has been removed and gauges are being rebuilt and tested. Drive wheels will later be removed and transported to TVRM in Chattanooga for turning, possible tire replacement and any other adjustments. Roller bearings all appear to be in good shape, and Timken has been consulted. Frame and drive boxes will be inspected after wheel removal for any issues such as stress cracks. Funding is moving along nicely and a very skilled group of volunteers under the expert direction of Shane Meador are making great progress!
