Always a good way to start the weekend, thanks for doing this Scott.

I haven't posted in awhile, life happens.  Haven't been able to do too much work on the layout but did take some pictures.  It's interesting to find things in the pictures that eyes alone don't always catch.  For example, the gaps between sidewalks in this picture.  Helps me fill in little things that I would otherwise miss.

Finally finished building the Atlas O icing platform. Hooo boy, lotta parts!

Took extra time too with adding led lights (from forum sponsor Evan Designs) to the ice deck and shanty. Also applying multiple layers of first base paint, then ground cover to the platform base.

Used this Aged Iron textured paint from Rust-Oleum for the deck roof. Made multiple passes to give the roof a rough tar paper look and feel. Came out pretty good.

A 2018 Christmas Layout memory

I probably shouldn't have used my typical smiley face this week because I'm going to show the one single task that I can't stand doing each year.  I realize that to most of you this is small potatoes but not for me who tries to hide every wire.  Also consider that NOT shown is the terminal strips that I use to distribute power to my DCS layout.

Wow some nice layout photos great work folks.

We have the Thomas the Tank engine event at our railway heritage park over 5 days here are some shots of my set up with the LionChief controls on the fence for the kids to run 10 Thomas theme trains. Also 2 gateman, whistles, Cranky the crane, Popcorn stand, whistles, fork lift loader, and lots of sounds buttons. Good crowds kids stay a long time to run the trains.  I made this Slinky dog based on other examples on the forum kids like it works fairly well.

Really needed to see this stuff today. Great pics as usual. I showed my one friend and coworker the closeup shot of the Bada Bing on Patrick Was layout. Really needed a great laugh. Today isn't like I expected work to be. Thank God we can all relax after today(hopefully).

Dave - There' nothing like laughter to cure what ails us!  Glad my Bada Bing photho could bring you some laughter!

The last of my York photos this weekend.....The S gauge layouts which have lots of good scenes to get modeling ideas from.....

Now I am concentrating on the station.  the station buildings, I believe are Marx.  I was able to meet the builder and as I suspected, he was from the Philly area. These remind me of a Septa commuter station.....

Peter:

Thanks for sharing all of those great photos of the S scale layouts. I really enjoy viewing S scale efforts.

As for S: You got to really, REALLY want to model in the scale side of S (as opposed to S hi-rail)... for it's quite challenging.

Love this pic (below)!  Can't really put my finger on the "why's", just has a cool look to it that I find appealing.

Glad to see modelers still enjoying S scale, regardless of their approach!

Andre

Well, I count myself lucky to be in the right place at the right time. I left the house well after #60 had gotten underway and thought for sure it was already near or at its other stop. Instead me sitting waiting for a truck to come under the bridge with no cars behind so I could film. Thing I was hoping to get, but no way possible in this shot was the whistle. Naturally a train more than likely wouldn't need to blow the whistle crossing a bridge(not one like this anyway where its the only train crossing). They changed the whistle so it is deeper. Enjoy the short video.

Dealer Holiday discounts & pricing, don’t be bamboozled.

I liked this car when I did it up for a customer so I tried to locate one. I shopped around and found this car at a regular price at Charles Ro today for 49 bucks. No one else even came close with all their so called specials. Lionel EL ps-5 gondola - 6-82861

Come on guys, 71 to 81 bucks for a new OEM gondola from a dealer? I see pricing gimmicks all the time. Must be a lot of uninformed buyers out there?

Just a teensy eensy bit harder with a floor layout!  There's also one other consideration: SPACE.  In other years I have used a 2-shelf stand that holds two trannies on top, 2 AIUs on the bottom shelf, and (just because I already had them) 4 power guards at ground level.

That is nice what you have though and I am envious of the space.

it is inspiration though!
