Surefire,

I opened the box, took one look, and put them right back in the box.  I know for sure there will be lots of posts on here to the effect that they're not that bad or the color is right. It isn't. I reluctantly kept my PRR Consolidation with the orange tender deck and the silver smokebox, but for $1300, this baby oughta be spot on.

PS Before I get clobbered on here, no, they are not bright orange like say the second run of the PRR X-31 boxcars, but they have a strong orange hue to them and they sure aren't tuscan as used on prototype PRR diesels and GG-1's. BTW, looks like the same wrong color they used on the JLC Tuscan GG-1's a few years ago.

I certainly don't fault you. These wrong colors drive me nuts, and I wouldn't accept it either. I don't know who's minding the color monitoring store for Lionel in China, but it seems someone's often been asleep at the wheel in that department. They've had a terrible time for a long time doing correct Rio Grande orange and Great Northern orange, for example. I've sent back a number of these engines. There have been plenty of other examples as well.

Quick video of the UP Alco PA ABA. Looks and sounds really nice. The Superbass B is an awesome add-on. This thing is loud, like wake up my neighbors loud and I love it.

I had one issue with the Front Powered A, whenever it would cross a switch it would trip the breaker on the layout, and it looks like the front left truck was not screwed in all the way so it was hanging down and when you crossed both middle rails of the switch it caused the issue. Unscrewed the truck, set it correctly, and the issue was resolved. I checked the trucks on all the other units to be sure.

They look and sound nice.

1955+ silver trucks, 1959+ "Union Pacific Railroad" nose herald and 1959+ "UNION PACIFIC" above the number boards representative of the UP's Alcos as operated in the early to mid 1960s.

The PAs are beautiful diesels. Enjoy!
