I will be more than making up for you!

I really will love this catalog!  They just get better and better...  hats off to Lionel...  can't wait to order...

Wonder what dealer exclusives there will be on the 4-8-4 and EM1's???

It's all you can eat Bob! I'm done with fantasy rehash...

The BEDT dockside looks fantastic! I’ll be in for my first lionchief engine!

Love the vista-vision series dome cars. That pennsy is a surprise! However there was one pennsy train that carried a run-through dome from the northern pacific. It was on the PRR’s south wind.

Wonder if the auto train dome is a sign of a complete set to come......... I will definitely pre-order that. So far this is a fantastic catalog!

Been waiting for someone to license the K-Line 4-6-6Tank engine tooling for more than 10 years but at a $1,100 price tag Lionel can keep it.  Thankfully earlier I was recently able to find a greatly detailed and well maintained original K-Line TMCC version for less than 1/3 the newly cataloged Legacy version.  Although it may not have the richer sound of Legacy, I'm very happy w/ my earlier TMCC version and I didn't have to pre-order, be concerned with a potential cancellation or current factory quality issued AND NOT spend $1k!

I agree w/ MartyE that at this point in the game, Lionel should stop the alleged dramatics or pressure on dealers or forum providers and just place the new catalog online.  Otherwise, I've been more interested in watching PBS's three part amazing series on the USA's path for space travel and mission to the moon "American Experience: Chasing the Moon"

Very cool to see more Amtrak. Also stoked to see the Auto-train and the UP/NW dome.

Southern dome, very cool!!! More Amtrak, excellent!!!  Pre Amtrak auto - train , I hope they offer different car numbers than I had custom painted last year ! Are they offering other auto train cars?  How about Amtrak phase 3 paint, thats what Christine is making up for me as we speak.

I always like to keep my thoughts positive when new catalogs come out but considering the most I would pay for a 4-6-6 Tank engine would be $600 even with Legacy and whistle steam. That is the neighborhood my H10, E6, and B6 Legacy steamers were purchased. Dealers better sharpen their discount pencils so they can do at least 45% off . Fat chance!

I will have to pass on this catalog as well from what I can see there is nothing I don't have already I like, I was disappointed that here would not be anything different to get me excited on this, If you want people to get excited don't just slap paint on a locomotive that clearly did not have it , Just seeing the EM-1 with a all blue paint job just makes me cringe, Try and make something new like when the camera caboose and theater cars came out  that's is what I get excited about something new, Price was never a consideration when I purchase but I already have a legacy EM-1 a Vision BB and I just got the MTH Bush Loco and special baggage car so its time to seek out different items

That makes sense.. That way the dealers with no integrity will be rewarded for going against Lionel's wishes.

It's the dealers with the alleged "no integrity" that will continue to take orders and send Lionel money...  I'm sure Lionel has no problem with that.

Personally, I really like this catalog from what I've seen so far!  If money was no object, I'd order a lot of it LOL

Perhaps we are seeing the tariffs starting to roll into the pricing.  Lionel has always been higher than the competition, but I have to think they are starting to also compensate for the increased cost in making the stuff in China.  I suspect others will have to follow.

I know that I recently got walloped with the 25% tariff on my last shipment of boards, a very unpleasant surprise!   I don't know if model trains are currently subject to the tariffs, if so I can't imagine prices not going up.

its not the money its just the same old stuff with different paint on them that gets old, if you don't have any of these its great. You have another chance to get one and for that then its a good catalog but if you already have these then you have to think about putting your money somewhere else

I really like your perspective on this. I can easily see your point. In my 2 years of collecting I have seen several products repeated. Due to space constraints, I tend (or at least try) to be strategic in my purchases of new items. One of which is the new Challenger and passenger car set, as this catalog favors many new UP cars it poses a danger to the play fund. The vision dome speaks to my fascination with UP/Amtrak and to something a bit different.

Thanks you, I have another perspective that many people may be asking does the new BB that comes out now makes the vision one less desirable, I have seen them go for big money in some cases due to the fact it was very revolutionary, Now that the new ones comes out does this not undercut that value, And I am not talking just money value I am talking  perceived desire because they were limited, So if you looking for a BB maybe you can find a vision one cheaper because of the new one

Certainly a nice catalog with some good stuff that is market specific. I believe that the model train market has reached a point where the demographics of those that buy the trains plays more heavily into the decision making process of the train companies for new products . The focus now seems to be mainly in the narrow market niche for the premium full featured trains.  While I appreciate the, strategy not all train operators and collectors participate in this market.  At this point perhaps the conventional operator may have few choices.

That's a great perspective, and you are right as the manufactures now have this idea to "Target" there sales they may not realize there will be a wall they will hit with the high end market, And even the medium market with the same stuff, There is only so much you can put into a locomotive I hope they will find out people will get to the point when they just look at a catalog and sigh. I am not picking on any one manufacture its the same with all of them, I pray that this is not the norm but if it is then maybe my days of buying new or BTO will come to a end, I guess I miss the days when you looked at the catalog and said "WOW" I just don't get that way anymore

Escape/R, thanks for that back-handed compliment.  Sounds like we have our "GO TO" person for Lionel policies and procedures.  Why then ship cases of printed catalogs to your dealers more than 2 weeks in advance of the online version release date and then expect this small band of retailers to put them in the corner for 2 weeks and not attempt to generate sales while the train hobby economy continues to contract?  These same small business owners must now adhere to MAP restrictions, larger minimum order quantities, less quality control and related limited parts and arguably one of the biggest fails in company/dealer integrity: the significantly below dealer cost direct sale blowouts via Amazon.

FYI, your ride is waiting...
