Many locomotives sit rusting or with fading and chipping paint. I think that some locos end up looking pretty neat like this, even though they don’t look as best as they could. One example is PRR 4800 or the P5. Both are in a sort of primer/basecoat with no lettering, just one solid color. IMHO, I think locos like this would be cool for limited runs. They would be unique to own and show  what some locomotives look like in real life in2019. What are your thoughts and what locos would you buy like this?

I think you're on to something interesting. Posting photos of such locomotives, real and/or model ones, would greatly help make your point, IMO. Arnold

Arnold,

thats a great idea and I thank you for it! I have yet to repaint/weather anything to look as it does in preservation, but I can post some photos of the real deal! The photos posted in the quote and I don’t know how to fix it, but those three are some of my photos I took around PA. We always see “In Service” weathering and paint jobs, but never “In Preservation” mods! I will eventually make this a project for my layout roster, starting with Amtrak 603 as it appears at RRMPA, today.
