Let’s see your tinplate! 😀.

Where I live one seldom sees any Marx trains. 2 weeks ago at a swapmeet I found this red MARX CV with Bogota Pullman and Observation. The spring of the clockwork is broken, I will try to repair it but for the moment no video, only pictures:

Marklin has made some very nice accessories, I just got this block signal, it can be used for O gauge and 1 Gauge through variable space of tracks. It is more 1 gauge due to the size, the electro magnet is hidden in the small house. It dates from 1928-30.
Have a nice weekend, Daniel

220 volts! DOUBLE YIKES! What WERE they thinking for a child's toy train? Makes you wonder....

It's not the volts, it's the amps that kill you!
Sorry, couldn't resist...

GEORGE: Seriously, I doubt any of us would get across 220 volts, regardless of the amperage!

I know, it's kind of a funny saying. You can't have volts without amps otherwise it's just potential.

Jim,
Do you suggest that this train runs at 220 Volt? I cannot imagine this was allowed in 1936/7?

Fred
Have seen three versions of the transformer before, although one was German and is missing the wood handle. The second one looks similar to the Unique Art unit. The third is simply a 220 version of the side lever Marx unit. Keep in mind we are talking about input rather than output.

This is a very rare beast! It has Dutch (or Flemish) text on it (not German). I assume it was made for the Belgian market. As far as I know Marx was not imported in the Netherlands, but it was imported in Belgium (where half of the people speak Dutch).

Large tin floor toy. The tender is supposed to be attached like many of these types. Too bad the other side is rusty.

I've been knee deep in the transmission for the minivan.....
@Jim O'C Feel happy to ship it down to Aus... the land of 240V LOL!!!
As far as new stuff this week , I have to admit utter utter utter failure
About all I can contribute would be a screenshot of me being sniped or failing to run the distance at about 20 auctions ... I cant help it if I have deep pockets and short arms ... I wonder if there is a cure for my condition
So unless I lift my game in the next few days all I am going to bring to the party is dredged up photos from the collection ... so sadly I present to you this week .... something tin and trainy and kinda O Gauge ...?
And I will cheekily add in a link to a video made by our very own Fred*!!! @sncf231e
What I find really interesting is the set in Fred's* video is a YTM and mine bears the ALPS trademarkon the box , and my loco has both the SATO and ALPS trademarks next to each other on the rear of the loco ... all the while sharing the same box and artwork , but again mine has ALPS in the bottom right corner of the boxtop ..
*edited cos I am a goose and muddled up Arne n Fred again ... Apologies !

OK, to be clear on this, the input voltage is 220 on the transformer, which is European standard. The output voltage is 12, which you can see across the top of the transformer. That transformer must get real hot, because those volts need to go somewhere.

Surely, I am not the only one who went to SCARM to see if/how small this could be replicated in O27. Not the automatic part, but at least the schematic. I can pull it off in 96x18, but still too big for a tinplate micro-layout. Darn!
NICE beer reefers!
even the best train parent ,has a problem child,,,,my crackle black piper,,,has been a problem from day 1 ,it was nos,,,so it would run like a foot and shut down,,,hummm, one shop had it for awhile,,it was ok,,,back on my track nope,,,tried a 2nd shop,,,couple weeks its ok,,,back it went,,,,it ran great on the bench upside down,,on the track nope,,,couple of weeks later ,,its ok,,,,same,,,,this time the front truck fell off,,,so the problem was it was binding on curves and stopped the loco, easy fix,,,till,,,and I will admit this,,,,dirty ,dirty track,,,shame on me,,,cleaned track,,now it, and I are happy campers

a few of the many different Marx CP types...
there is an impostor in the group. i have an actual pre-war double-reduction drive for a CP type, but it's not in 100% working condition with a missing pickup, so i have modified a "3000" with a Baldwin driver DR drive so i can run a CP passenger train on modern track.
there are two clockwork shells... the first c/w shell i ever got did not have the original motor, but after searching for a few years, i came across a complete windup model. still have hung on to the other one as it has a different headlight lens along with a markedly different finish.
the Army Suppy Train locomotive is a heavy model that came with a large 12 car military set...
along with the standard front-end weight, there is a good size hunk of cast iron in the cab.
i'd like to see another version of a CP "heavy" if any exist.
cheers...gary

I'd have to dig sets out to see if any of my CP's are weighted, but I have a 8 wheel set with a weighted 897.

Fairly tough to find. These were unique to the Modern Marx Rock Island 10252C white set. Only seen a couple out of the set. Most sets had the Monon or Soo hopper.

Well Last night formally broke my purchase drought
Locally in Australia I found some J.Kraus/Fandor carriages/wagons
And coming from the UK will be a ratty rusty pre-war Distler set ...
missed out on some beauties from the USA I really would have liked , but darn sellers insisting on using a certain Auction Sites Global Shipping Program which precluded me from bidding past a certain point .... It might not be applicable to most readers here, but internationally the amount charged for it is at least double ( and sometimes more) than regular shipping using established services ... ridiculous even more when you cycle in the exchange rates ... I really dont get it .. if they offered regular shipping , international buyers would give the SELLERS more money rather than wasting it on third party "Service Providers" ..... I would have easily given the seller another $50 on the selling price, but instead I would have to reserve that part of the bidding that would have went to the shipping co, which is really hard to justify...
Rant over LOL!

Nice set; I think the roof of the first and third car are mistakenly misplaced.

Good call, Fred!
Yep Fred , I concur .. the seller wasnt very train savvy (a trading/auction business) So I can thank my lucky stars they at least got the right roof's on the right set of carriages LOL !
I am going to have to hunt down a nice clockwork Kraus loco for them now as I only have a 20V electric one in my collection at this stage ... also a tender or two .. it never ends
