So far the main complaints I've seen about this new catalog are the usual "prices are too high" and "they just keep slapping on different paint schemes".

This set fits neither of those categories. Based on the price of the other SD70s, the cars in the set work out to $150 a piece which is remarkable because they'll have figures and a station sounds diner.

Secondly, two of the cars are all new tooling, and a third is modified tooling. The locomotive and diner will also have new sounds.

I give kudos to Lionel on this set. They could've charged a fortune on it because people will pay it, but they're not. I'll be ordering one for sure.

I think the set prices are certainly more appealing than separate sell.   I like the exclusiveness of having cars in the set not available for separate sell also.   I think it’s a nice set.    I’ll be pulling the trigger on one.   Don’t get me wrong I wish our hobby was cheaper.   But I get so tired of the *****ing of prices.  I started dreaming over Lionel catalogs as a young kid.   At 33 I’m slightly larger actually much larger kid but I’m living the dream.   It’s a great set I bet they sell a ton!

My only complaint that the casket baggage car is not available as a separate item. I would get it as I ordered the MTH two-rail version of #4141. The only problem with the MTH baggage car is that it is a 72' car.

Its unfortunate the cars are not offered as a separate sale item, even all four together without the engine. Many already have the Lionel previous issue 4141 and MTH has done 3 issues in Premier and at least 2 in Rail King. Lionel is even offering a non powered 4141 but also without the cars. Not sure who would be interested in a non powered engine without any of the cars.

I imagine there's a good number of people who might want to put the locomotive in a mantel or desk but not have room for 8 feet of train.

Even though I am a fan of the former President I just can't understand the the George Bush train and the popularity of it. Yes it is a very attractive set but I have no desire to own it.

Good luck to those that do.

My reasons for wanting the set: always been a big fan of the Bush family, saw HW and Barbara several years ago, my grandfather worked with 41. Fantastic looking engine I've wanted for years, and I've always wanted some nice UP passenger cars. It is something that will pay a nice tribute to the president.

I know it's not for everyone, but that's my reasons.

I can’t pass this up. It looks to be one of the better values of recent times. I’m glad there’s not much else I want. Except for a couple add on cars, and the PC F7’s, and the Big Boy, and the Docksider, and the Ford S2, and the ...........!!!!

This to me seems like a great value as well.  I wasn't prepared to preorder anything but I am starting to give this set some thought.  I have a month to decide.

As one that has voiced opinion on pricing, I do find these to be reasonable priced and a bargain. They will also represent a unique time in our History and pay respect to a very unique man, be it as a warrior, family man, or President, he lived each to the fullest. I'm in for set and cars. Maybe run, but mostly displayed.
