Throw back Thursday Trainiac friends! A little background history you may not know... Chief Traingineer, Roger Farkash, started TW Design/TrainWorx in 1982, same year our son Frank Farkash was born! In 1983 came another blessing, our daughter, Lindsay and it wasn’t until 1985, I (Dorcie aka TrainDame) joined forces with Roger to navigate operating a business while raising our two kiddos - what an incredibly amazing journey it IS!

Ok, ok ... fast forward to 2007, Lindsay had graduated from University of Texas (2005 - Hook 'em Horns) and joined team TDub for a short stint as one of our Project Managers... (this was before TW TrainWorx become an official Division of TW Design) and she was PM on the Grand Central Terminal Holiday Layout Install for the 2007-2008 Holiday Season... HO HO HO! Pictured here are the Traintastic Traingineers; George, Roy, Lindsay, and Pops 🚂🚂🚂🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 “Oh the places you’ll go!”

Beautiful layout. Maybe we could see a video?

Thank you! You can see this layout every year inside the Grand Central Terminal in the NY Transit Museum during the Holiday season. We originally designed and fabricated it for Lionel in 2005 and they since have turned it over to the NY Transit Museum for the Annual Holiday Train Show. All this to say.... google YouTube Videos of NY Transit Museum Holiday Layout and see what pops up

Best wishes for continued success to you and the family. The New Haven tower kit was outstanding.

Thank you so much Mel - the article in the OGR Magazine was spot on and your modeling skills were absolutely shown off

Be on the look out for a special something coming your way via USPS

Great story indeed Dorcie. You all have been very busy for some time, great to see the past. BTW, if you have any tall buildings you're working on, consider looking up the topic "Tall Building Tuesday" as it would be a great place to show off some of those.

Thank you! I will write that topic down because we are working on a truncated Empire State and Chrysler Building here in Dallas and in Concord, Reagan is modeling some incredible buildings!! I'll post soon

I visit the NY Transit Museum in Grand Central Terminal several times a year and during the Holiday season when the layout is on display. Have admired the layout for years and had no idea it was built by Trainworx. Now I know why it's so nice! Am planning to visit again in December.

Hello Dorcie and all,

Nice to see these “vintage” pix.  We took our entire family including our two sons’ wives and all three grandchildren to New York over Thanksgiving in 2017.  One on my must sees was the TrainWorx layout at Grand Central Terminal.  So one morning my older son and one of our grandsons hoofed it up there, and we were not disappointed!

All three of us had been to Grand Central on earlier trips, but never when the layout was there.  Very impressive! Of course, I have to admit that the LEGO store in Rockefeller Center was an added incentive to get the grandson on his feet, away from his Xbox and uptown, but he was suitably impressed with your layout and not at all sorry he had gone there with us.

Thank you, and keep up the great work!
