has anyone ever attempted the following - and can anyone share results on performance??

——————————

z-500 + z-500 vs z-1000

(4a;50w) x2 vs (6a;100w)

——————————

z-750 + z-750 vs PH135 or Z4K throttle

(4a;75w) x2 vs (7.5a;135w) or (8a;165w)

——————————

I feel like combining two z-1000 bricks (12a;200w) or two PH135s (15a;270w) or two PH180s (20a;360w) is just a crazy bad idea. Serious welding territory.

Anyone tried combining matched pairs of these smaller MTH bricks? Any good results?

Thanks

Paralleling the PH bricks is pretty common. Lionel actually sells a two to one sets of wires for doing just that to use with a TPC

Thanks, I am aware of that, but that’s not what I am asking about. I am wondering if anyone has done this with the smaller bricks MTH makes and if the breakers worked fast / if it was an overall success.

Despite the Lionel paralleling being common, I don’t like the idea of exceeding an 8-10amp threshold under any circumstances.

I run Z1000's in parallel on all 4  channels of my TIU and use a single inline fuse for each pair. The only problem I had was that some are wired opposite inside making them out of phase with each other. The breakers would kick as soon as you connect the barrel jacks together. I eventually found 8 that were all the same. I did not want to mess with cutting the barrel jacks off to achieve getting them phased alike.

Couldn’t you have just flopped the - and + red/black barrel adapter wires from the brick to the TIU ports??
