i received my 2nd E6 before I posted my problem to see if it was me or the engine.  When I put the switch in conventional mode or TMCC using either TMCC or cab-1 on my remote, the motor whines nicely on the B unit, smoke good, but the A unit makes a pumping sound (like an IV pump) with no smoke.  Resets and re-address on engine had no effect.

Sound like something someone else experienced?  Trying to see if worth taking off the shell or sending back to Scott.

I have 3 of the E6. I found that if I use my cab 1L some things change with it that dont affect the cab 1 you may have to reset you're. Cab 1L to get the features to reset. When I did that everything worked properly. Try putting the switch for the smoke unit in neutral or middle position and see if you're problem still persist

The switch is a 2 position.  When in Conventional the pumping sound occurs.  When in TMCC the pumping sound occurs when the smoke is turned on and stops when the smoke is turned off.  It appears all is correct down to the engine itself.  I'm thinking something might be disconnected inside or something I might be able to correct.

It almost sounds like a piston that cannot complete it's stroke.

Reprogram the R2LC, it sounds like it's programmed for a strobe light.

You'll want AUX-8 for most diesels with smoke.

Hopefully I have everyone here.  You all nailed it.  I did not understand “Eng #1” was critical.  I had #1 assigned to my Allegheny.  I purloined #1 from the Allegheny and “viola”, magic.  Works fine and helped handle my lashup problem.

I had 2 more questions then.  Can I turn off the Cab light when operating and can I get the crew talk and sound out of the B unit when creating a train?  There are no icons except for link on the B.   The horn and sounds have better bass on the B.
