I just finished resetting a 3rd rail Diesel using the reset procedure given to me by members here as well as Scott Mann.  I had my Cab-2 Engine ID #1 set to my Allegheny.  I changed the attributes for the engine and did the reset.

 

My question is, should I leave #1 and/or others unassigned?  I guess I am asking if #1 or any other number serve a special function in the programming of engines.

Marty's right! Never want to have more than 1 engine start up and move, the resulting crash or floor fall may be severe!

John mentioned using Engine ID#0.  I also used it for an Acela (don't even think about laughing).  I sold that one after I did a major make better than new job on all the motors and mechanisms

Thanks for your help guys.  Hope to see and meet you gentlemen at York.  Only bummer is no name tags.  I do go to "the breakfast" and have done the DCS meeting last year.

I forgot to mention, I have another Acela.  Actually with about 24 hours worth of work, they can be transformed into a very smooth operator...but this topic is about Engine ID.  I won't digress.  Thanks again, all,.  I look forward to making new friends in 2 months.

I always use the Last Two Digits of the Engine Number!  Makes it easy to remember!  In case of duplicate numbers, then I use the First Two Digits!!
