This little "sun-catcher" was made by my daughter a long time ago.

Wow!  I have the same one and completely forgot where I got it!  Now I vaugely recall it being a craft where you could paint the glass sections (makes sense as mine is different colors).  Probably did it at a birthday party when I was little or we use to go camping and the campgrouds would have little crafts for the kids.  Of course I always picked the train related items if they had them (I have a small ceramic train from a similar event as well).  What a blast from the past!

The Weaver Models version of the Great Northern ACF CENTER FLOW 4-bay covered hopper compared to the new LionScale Great Northern ACF Center Flow 4-bay covered hopper.  The Weaver Glacier Green paint is much brighter than the Glacier Green on the LionScale car. The Weaver paint finish is much smoother than the Lionel car. The Lionel trucks are much better. I had to install Atlas O roller bearing trucks on the Weaver hopper. The Lionel version of the Great Northern lettering and data are completely accurate.

Did some more work on the layout this week. Marked off & painted the roads. Cut in the slots for the station & crossing signals as well. Also expanded the farm area & put the farm house with it per my daughter's request ! Going to try and work on putting up the frame for the backdrop & around the board.
Picked up a LC+ NYC Hudson & a trio of passenger cars too

Patrick, that little docksider is steaming up a storm.

Rusty, your photos are always first rate.

Christopher, for a backdrop fastened to the side of the layout I use 1/2 plywood, about 1-1/2' high bolted to the 1x2 fascia below the table top.  I mounted some foam to the plywood, in case operator over zealousness resulted in a high speed derailment into the backdrop, then my wife painted sky and scenery on the foam.

why do you keep deleting our photos taken by  Marci and I  ???

they still are on her phone...

Brian, you seem to have repeatedly missed the memo. The moderators are asking that real train photos, even those you have taken, not be posted in the 3-rail forum (unless there is some relevant reason, like for comparison to a Model also discussed in a thread).

Your Wabash heritage scheme photo should be posted in the appropriate forum, such as Real Trains. It will likely be deleted again from the 3-rail forum.

It appears that Lionlman repainted a Plasticville School House for his Howard Johnson's. I like it, I think he did a great job, the sign looks cool, too! And, a nice semi trailer, also!

Rusty

There is a gentleman offering these on ebay.  It is a Plasticville school house.  He also offers it as a motor lodge with two sets of rooms and a pool.  I've got those coming and will post a picture when they arrive.  We had a Howard Johnson's in our home town where I grew up.   I loved to eat the fried clam strips.  The ice cream was pretty good too.

This is Weekend Photo Fun.  Emphasis on the last word.  Without real trains none of us would have toy trains.

Which is why there is a Real Trains forum, where those pictures can and should go.

Must whole heartedly disagree.  Sure like it when a member post a pic of their model (model a smaller version of the real thing) a companion pic of the prototype.  And it is a funny thing in the 11-years I have been a member plus a few years of just observing here this was NO problem!

Well, they are getting deleted now when the photo is merely the image of a real train with no accompanying model.

I just counted five or six "real" photo post that have not been deleted that have no companion model pic post.

OK...let me clear this up.  It has always been the policy of OGR that members post their pictures in the appropriate category.  Real train photos generally should be posted in the Real Trains category/forum.  There are a few reasons why this should be the case...not the least of which it makes researching where a particular prototype photo is much easier by having all or most of them in one place.  So....here is how I have asked the moderators to interpret this policy:  The prototype photo should have a companion model photo if it is being used in one of the model categories/forums.  Do we miss some of them...yep...so if you feel we should be alerted, please do so.  I don't get too concerned as long as we don't have copyrighted photos being posted...
