More Mystery Motors | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

Got these motors along with a junk lot I just purchased. I know one is Marx, and the other is American Flyer. The Marx motor actually runs even though the frame is cracked. I've never seen a Marx motor that had a frame made of some type of pressboard, and would like to know what it was originally for.

The American Flyer doesn't run as the brushes and brush springs are missing, but again, would like to know the original application. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I found out the Marx motor was used on all the FM metal diesels, but the A.C. Gilbert item is still a mystery.

The Flyer Motor is from the #617 sheet metal engine ca 1933. Below are a left and a right side view of the engine.
