Hello fellow flanged wheel enthusiasts - Welcome to the second edition of Switcher Saturday - Mark II.

This is a recurring weekend thread dedicated to the little loco's that make big things happen.  As with the original thread, if you prefer yard goats, docksiders, critters and local switchers over Big Boys, Alleghenys and Dash 9 diesels, you've found the right place.

If you missed lasted week's thread, which was both a kick off and tribute to the originator, Rich Murnane, you can find it here.

To start things off really small and in the critter category, here’s on of the smaller track mobiles you’ll ever see.  The road wheels and rail wheels are 90 degrees apart!

And on the 3 rail front, we have a gp-4.5, pressed into service to move some Steeler rolling stock.  The yard master heard a rumor that the engineer was Browns fan, so he “ accidentally” assigned the smallest motive power he could find!

A few simple rules for Switcher Saturday:

1. If it's related to switchers (model switchers, prototypes, critters, switching yards, switching layouts) - we want to see it! Videos, Pics, Stories (true or fictional), poems, whatever!

2. If you miss the post on Saturday? NO BIG DEAL, just keep posting pictures of your favorites until the next #SwitcherSaturday

3. Keep it friendly - we want this to be fun. (we haven't had any problems with grumpy trolls, I'd like to keep it that way)

4. In regards to compliance with the letter and spirit of the OGR tos, this post is in the photo album section as the subject is switchers and small motive power.  Three rail O is the common medium but anything from prototype through Hongz, grand scales, live steam etc is welcome, as long you took the photo yourself or have permission to post it.  Feel free to post a link to something cool.

Found it on a consignment store shelf for in VA. (They only had one)

As a general note, I also got automated messages about photos.  They stop after a couple postings.  Just reality and of the legal actions brought against OGR.  I encourage everyone to try to keep this thread a positive experience.

       Happy "SWSAT" !!!

Marci, Izzy and I got to watch some more switching going on at the Anderson's...

a lil chameleon critter, trying to blend in with it's background...

keep them switchers switching !      have a great weekend everyone !!!

Since I received a nasty message from ORG immediately after posting MY Photos I feel it's not worth the hassle of involvement in any more of these forums.

Can’t blame you. If you post your own photos, I don’t see why that notification is necessary. Only COPYRIGHTED photos are banned, not personal ones. As far as i understand it.

This whole legal situation is sad. We’re just a bunch of guys trying to have fun and not harming anyone despite what the lawyers may say.

SO TRUE...  very sad...  who knew looking, learning , and sharing train stuff could get you in trouble...

we are all here 'cause we just like trains, learning the facts and history of them...

this should just be a happy place to be at

I’m pleased to see Switcher Saturday continuing.

To my mind, the term “switchers” conjures up small steam engines with no leading or trailing trucks. New Haven Alco RS-1 #0668 (model by Atlas O) and New York Central EMD GP-9 #6001 (model by MTH) certainly do not qualify in that regard, although technically they are correctly referred to as “road-switchers.” Pictured on my 12’-by-8’ layout.

I don't have a lot of switcher pictures that I've taken over the decades, and I have no clue where some of them come from that reside in my folders. SO, I'm going to be somewhat limited by how much I can contribute to SWSAT henceforth.

Here's a picture I snapped of one that I ran over a decade ago when twidlin' sticks for the A&M...

Wow, how time has flown. I have good memories of running T-6's, but I also had some sore knees. They were not designed for somebody 6'1" and longish legs! I called the "Knee Knockers"... can't tell you the times I thought I'd knocked my kneecap off when spinning around it the seat to face the opposite direction when switching!

Thanks to everyone who participated today, and feel free to contribute through the week.  I understand the enforcement of picture rules putting a little damper on things.

Here’s a parting shot for the day from me.  I painted this myself a long long time ago

Hopefully things will build back up as folks find us on the new forum and adjust to the new photo rules. I put a notice of the change of forum site on the regular Traditional / Hi-Rail O gauge forum to guide them over to this “Photo Albums” forum. I will try to keep doing that on Saturdays for the next few weeks.

Here is one that surely will get me an e-mail.  I will accept it with grace, since I am admitting that I stole it from the TCA- Western article about Lobaugh.

But I will get away with it - imageand not cause OGR any trouble - because it is a photo of my model, taken with my camera, and then modified by TCA !

I am in complete agreement with management.  It is not proper or legal to post others' photos without written permission.  It is stealing!
