looking for some PRR express boxcars to run with my PRR passenger set from Williams with the mth K-4s. Email me with some images of the cars and what you’re asking.

Middle Division who had cars made by Atlas - did a PRR X29 Express version. The cars converted to Express for passener service had different grab iron configuration dictated by the FRA and heavier truck bearings to run at higher speeds. They were also equipped with steam and communication lines used by passenger equipment. I think Middle Division/Atlas did at least 6 different numbers. They did put different truck details and all the outside stuff needed. I don't know if PRR converted any other boxcars to express passenger service and I know of no other accurate models of any.
Another signature PRR car that built and used in passenger service was the R50B reefer which MTH of which did a very nice model. This is a 50 ft steel side car with a round roof with sloped ends. While built as a reefer it evolved into dry express service also. Since these were built for passenger service from the start, they have passenger trucks and essentail details.
I have some of the Weaver ones if you’re still looking

The Weaver car is available with either plastic or diecast trucks. My opinion is that it goes better with williams stuff...comparable detail. The Atlas car is highly detailed, moreso than williams.

Wow, just ordered mine. You guys are in Paso?! I used to live in shell beach, now I’m 4 hours south. Thank you for posting the links!
I like it here in paso...5 acres and a big house in a wooded/semi desert area. We used to have a live stream that flowed all year, but it dried up when the water table fell with the drought. I think I can still dig down to water, but it doesnt come up high enough to flow anymore. IDK if it ever will again in my lifetime.
Wish I lived closer to LA tho... Started in the performing arts about 6 years ago, and im down in LA as much as i can, cause that's where the jobs are.
Beth,
Since oldO27collector bought his cars, I thought I would chime in and ask some questions (I'm looking for more PRR express X-29s).
Are the Atlas cars you are selling old (Middle Division) cars or just released cars?
How do the Williams cars compare to the Atlas. Are they noticeably different that the Atlas when coupled together?
Thanks.
Either the Atlas cars or the weaver will be fine with williams passenger cars. The Atlas cars just have a lot more detailing...so it you're looking from closer than 2 feet, you might notice the difference. The weaver cars are comparable in detailing to the williams pax cars, so I think they are more approriate. Just my opinion.
The PRR Atlas X-29's I have here most are the plain X-29 versions . The REA express version..I have the recently released ones, and maybe 1 or 2 of the middle division ones.

I have a question about the PRR x29s used in express service. Were all of those x29s marked "Railway Express Agency"? Or, did some x29s have express required appliances (trucks, grab irons etc) w/o Railway Express Agency markings?
No and yes are the answers to your questions. In later years the cars did not have Railway Express Agency markings on them. They did have the larger keystone markings rather than the circular ones.
Thanks rheil. I forgot about the changes after wwII and around1954. My questions were deficient because I did not specify a time period. I am interested in the pre wwII era when the cars had the circular PRR logo.
Edit: FWIW, I found an answer to my inquiry. Hagley.org has a photo of PRR X29 #6200 "equiped for baggage service" without Railway Express Agency. The car has the distictive panel doors of early models.
