Bought a Lionmaster Challanger on ebay last month and when I recieved it one of the green marker lights is out. Tested with a multimeter and it is getting power. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement...Lionel doesnt seem to have the part# on their site. Im guessing I'll need to order one from an electronics parts site. Anyone know the size and voltage? Any help would be much appreciated.

These are the classification lights for the 6-11208 Legacy Lionmaster Big Boy from 2010; cost $5.00. I would imagine they would work on your Challenger and a call to Lionel should confirm this. You might have to cut off the connector at both ends and connect the wires which would be no big deal.
Good luck. John

Sweet...thats exactly what im looking for...I was thinking last night maybe another model would have the part available. Lord knows I searched 10 different electronics sites and none came close to those types of LEDs. Thanks...just ordered them.
FWIW, these have been used in MTH and Lionel steamers since about the dawn of time. They Lumex 2mm ceramic LED's.
Well I received the new LEDs from Lionel today and installed them...only to find out the same issue persists. Does anyone know the voltage outputs of the 2 conductors that attach to the 2 green LEDs on the 6-82694. When the marker lights are turned off via the Legacy controller...the reading between Ground and each conductor is 7.8v....when activated I'm seeing 2.8v on one conductor and 7.8v on the other. I know the LEDs will activate only with the proper voltage. Im guessing there's a logic chip that routes the voltage thru a resistor when turned on. Its looking like an issue with the main board now. Any suggestions before I rip this guy a new one for selling me an engine with a damaged board. Im seeing on the Lionel site that the 691RCMC657 board is $120 (if they have it im guessing).
First off, the LED voltages are referenced to DC ground, NOT frame ground. You need to verify if the LED's will both light if you power them from an outside power source. A 9V battery with a 1K series resistor will light the LED's, see if you can make that happen. It looks like the LED's might plug into a wiring harness before they get to the RCMC, did you check continuity of all the wires up to the RCMC connector?
Thanks Gunnerjohn...any idea where I could get the pin outs for the 691RCMC657 board? I’ll see if I can scrounge up a 1k resistor (I miss my local radio shack)
The pinouts are easy, Bruk has published the bible on that front!
I've attached his two latest documents to this documentation thread. Look at the end of the thread, I just put them there today.
TMCC/LEGACY REFERENCE MATERIALS & MANUALS
The green color is incorrect for the classification (not "marker"; the markers are on the tender) lights on the front of a locomotive unless there is a second section of the same train following.
Classification (and loco marker) lights were almost always turned off, so you really should unplug the "good" one.
There's "always" a second section following on 99% of the layouts around, it the same train coming around the loop again.
Thanks for the info guys...after some further testing...turns out not only did I have 1 bad original LED...but the set of LEDs I got from Lionel had 1 bad one as well...luckily I ordered 2 pairs(you know..cause you never know). I attached the second pair and they both lit up. Man was I relieved and sorta upset w/ Lionel. So I installed the good pair and cobbled the 2 good single LEDs together to make a second working pair...so I guess it all worked out anyway. But geez...a bad LED right from Lionel...not cool Lionel.
To be fair to Lionel - they buy them in and just wouldn't have the time/resources to test every one! Glad you got it fixed - greet engine....
Sadly, bad parts happen more often than you might imagine. Many times, the parts you get are pulls from returns or damaged locomotives. A couple of times I've bought locomotive shells that were on the "scrap" shelf, though I wasn't sure why they were considered scrap. Over the years I've also gotten a few bad boards from Lionel as well.

So if he only has one green light does that mean that is only a half of a second section following?

The second section is merging into his track from the side the class light is illuminated on.
