N SCALE NYC EL - Tibor Balint-10-2020

Hello ALL-

Most all of you know me (Joseph Frank) quite well and long for my NY City based O-Scale NY EL and Trolley System Layouts in present O SCALE and earlier HO SCALE  (now presently some HO EL modules on static display in train room but others stored stored in the room)  --- but I want to share someone's quality "EL" and detailed modeling work in quite small N SCALE here. Of course doing so here on the "Subways/Transit/Traction forum where it is on topic and relevant !

I know this is "O" Scale and Gauge based Forum --- but this N-Scale transit work by a fellow named Tibor Balint, and is fantastic enough to be shared.  I know this man from another forum.  He also created N Scale IRT Manhattan El "MUDC" (door control converted gate cars) Class Elevated Cars.  See photo below:  Photos will do more than more words --- so I will post them further below;   In  following additional new postings further below here I will post photos of the construction of his EL structures !

Reminder - at the bottom END of this posting, scroll further down to see more additional followup postings by me of MORE PHOTOS of Tibor's model work !regards - Joe F

WOW!!!! Trying to image what this would like in O scale and how much real estate it would need

Hi !

I totally agree -- you can have a monster of a layout in a lot smaller space than HO or O Scales !  And I modeled a huge EL layout (NY City based)  in both HO Scale (1964 -- and it grew thru 1970's -- thru mid 80's)  and in 1984-85 I started in O Scale 2-rail track for a bigger EL format.  My modular-built HO EL in a given floor space was 32' x  6' -- had a LOT MORE track mileage and operation than my later modular-built  O Scale NYC EL & Trolley system  (7' x 39' rectangular).  Here is my Webpage Photos ALBUMS Page for my O Scale (and HO) EL layouts, and my around the room HO Scale Mainline RR "Modular Shelves Layout"  https://www.flickr.com/photos/44268069@N00/albumshttps://www.flickr.com/photos/44268069@N00/albums  --- and for my main page at Flickr;

Here is another of the two newest photos of this N Scale NY City based (but could be representative of Chicago)  Layout

Tibor Balints N Scale EL-11-2020

BELOW is a city block street scene that Tibor created using some design preservation, and other items to create this NY City style tenement apartments block. Needs an "EL" in front of it !  Magnificant finishg and detailing work !  And in N SCALE !

Tibor told me:  This is made to be a Manhattan EL city-scene in N-scale: "The Bowery" with the main structure. Those old pictures with street scenes taken from EL platforms always intrigued me. It is kitbash from DPM kits with those typical street-front details. Two more buildings to go...

Hello Will,  and Mark (B)

THANKS for the nice comments.  I sent Tibor the link for this thread page to this forum site (and a link to the one I put in  HONGZ Forum) - so he will see your comments.  i don't think he is a signed up member at OGR -- so if not he can see but not reply or comment.  I agree,  modeling in HO scale (my HO NYC EL layout from 1964 thru 1986)  and O Scale after,  is tedious detail work alone -- but in N Scale (I call it the "jewelers" scale)  you really have to by near, cautious and careful in your modeling skills.  And things (ie, screws, etc) are so tiny.!  Well, this is the beginning of what I assume will be a larger operating N Scale display by Tibor. With the quality of his modeling work, he is on the right track !

regards - Joe F

I wonder if Tibor is a dentist or surgeon as both professions require a high degree of manual dexterity, and a jeweler's precision skills.

Hello Art --

I do not know - only know Tibor from Facebook -- he states he lives in Malaysia --  don't know anything about him other than he has this proclivity to modeling pre 1950 era NY City Elevated and city scenes.... and does excellent work.  Not any different in a way -- than those great looking and detailed model RR layuouts we see done in all scales ! (and my own O Scale EL & Trolley System, which you know of)  !!

regards - Joe F

Talk about tedious ... It's tough enough in O scale.  But N' is near impossible for me'.. This is some of the best N Gauge modeling I've seen to date'... Simply OUTSTANDING'.  Please congratulate Tibor, on such beautiful modeling.!!!! ANd thank you Joe for posting these tremendous photos'....👍👌☑

Hello Ted

You already did (congratulate Tibor)  - and thanks -- as Tibor has the link to this forum and this page,  he can read the forum.  But as a NON OGR-member - he cannot respond.  Perhaps he chose to join OGR Forums !

Here is the latest newest photos from Tibor Balint (or Maylasia!) -  another amazing detailed scene !
