Josh, Jenkin, and Lazo climb rocks.

A trolly whizzes by as a logging train passes above and boaters row below .... all the while the rock climbing trio are focused on their task at hand.

Ah ... the beach and canoeing ... how relaxing!  

Ah ha!  More rock climbing!  The canoeing does look relaxing, but so does train watching!

Some rail fans ready with their cameras. I hope they don't have to wait to long, I'm cleaning the train table and basement.

The figure on the right is a common Plasticville painter.

The mountainside is thin, white, Styrofoam, salvaged from packaging, layered together with Elmer's white glue.

I then painted it with leftover grey, green and brown latex paint and sprinkled sawdust, some dyed green with Rit Dye (just like in the 1950's) while the paint was still wet. Lastly, I added some small pieces of lichen and weed flowers sprayed green.

Thanks Dallas and Paul for your comments/compliments on my previous post.  Much appreciated! I posted that photo on Ted's thread back in 2020, however, not with special effects.  At your suggestion I will play around with special effects.  If I like the result I will re-post the same photo with the special effects ( before and after ) on Ted's thread.

FOR TODAY:  It's 1950 ... Engineer Buster Bottoms is making time with this old tea kettle, as he calls number 97!!  He's got the throttle notched all the way out and she's doing 32 miles per hour.  He can't wait to get assigned to one of them new fangled diesel locomotives like a F3 or BL2 or a RS3.  Heck ol Buster would even settle for a GE 44 tonner but his real dream is to be at the throttle of a Fairbanks Morse Train Master. ...  Just another day on the railroad.

Buster has a nice ride!  How about a Pittsburgh made Porter for Buster’s upgrade!  Then shoot for the FM

At this point Buster is ready for anything other than ol number 97!  Pittsburgh here he comes!!

FOR TODAY:  This morning while riding my bike along Railroad Ave.,  I came upon these MOW workers in full  work mode!  These fellas were ' gitner done' too!   For railroad workers weekends are ...  just another day on the railroad.

FOR TODAY:  Focus on the Lionel automatic barrel car.  I got this car for Christmas when I was in second grade. It still works perfectly!!  Now on with the story ...

Sipping my afternoon coffee while peaking out my office window, I see this car load of barrels.  " Hmmmm .... interesting" I mumble under my breath. " Let me run down to the first floor for a better look!"

View from the first floor terrace.  "I guess the workers will have to clear some space before these barrels can be unloaded."  .... just another day on the railroad!

@Trumptrain, you’ve started a fad, It’s a barrel of fun seeing your barrel car getting ready to be unloaded, (Your first floor view is ideal), and @Dave Ripp has the right fork lift to assist you in unloading those heavy barrels off of the car, Joes his number one operator,  @Mark Boyce is happy with all your ideas, Barrel Day, and now, I’ve found some barrels I bought years ago and hopefully one day they will make it to the layout, Yes, it’s Barrel Day in America. FOR TODAY:  These guys have been busy this morning to say the least!  It' s just after 8 a.m. and they've unloaded two boxcars already.  It's now break time.  Elmer Beardsley sits on the doorsill of the new Santa Fe boxcar talking with Les Winkler about last night's ball game.  Shorty Long drives the forklift pulling the last crate to the freight holding area for REA pickup later. ..... just another day on the railroad!

There  are railroad terminal photos and there are terminal photos   At any rate Dave very nice scene!  Reminds  us of our impermanence .... enjoy each moment we are on this side of the dirt because we all have an expiration date.  Lets enjoy our day to the max!!!

That is absolutely correct, Paul!  Also, once they started using salt in the winter on a widespread basis, there was more need of those barrels, even if they just mark a spot to avoid.  I get it that the salt helps keeping traffic moving, and motorists are calling for it as soon as there are a few flakes of snow, but…
