Amazing how people perceive things, I find your realistic layout, much more interesting than mine!

Difference is what makes the world go around, I love all train layouts, from Christmas layouts to scale. From TT gauge to Standard gauge. Flyer, Marx, Lionel, etc. Check out the "Friend's Layouts" features on www.Warrenvillerailroad.com for examples - I love visiting all of them.

@Lionelskii, John,  I love the pictures of your post war style layout, the nice plasticville houses, the Lionel accessories, the beautiful trains on the different levels, the FM pulling a nice load of Evans Auto Carrier cars full of new cars, the beautiful bascule bridge, the busy streets, the gang car going back and forth downtown, it’s packed full of memories. Hi guys I just handed out a boatload of likes! I love all the photos and videos as it gives me inspiration! I would love to share some photos with you all, but I don't think you would like to see bear track with power drops just hanging! LOL Maybe this time next year! LOL I hope your all having a wonderful Christmas!

FOR TODAY:  This was the scene captured very early this morning around 5 a.m.  Santa found the temperatures too frigid  to fly back to the North Pole in his sled.  Instead he found the cozy warm comfort of a train and its' observation car much more appealing.  He steps outside for a smoke and a bit of fresh air. Once inside he will nestle down in a cozy nook and begin munching on all those delicious Christmas cookies. .... Merry Christmas everyone!!

Wow, here we are on Christmas Evening/Night in some time zones and there have been many beautiful pictures posted, stories told, and nice videos to. So, for Christmas this year, we added another Sante Fe yellow bonnet to help with our freight orders as business is picking up here in Tennessee. Now, we need to prepare for 2023. Yes . . . way back when.  

Throughout the 20th century, steam heat was standard.  A small number of passenger cars on mixed trains had coal stoves right up until the last day of mixed train service.  Amtrak started in 1971, with steam heat, but gradually eliminated it in favor of electric heat, starting in 1976.

The Durango Silverton Coaches have little coal stoves in each passenger car.  Nice to have in January.  Great trip and highly recommend if you get the chance.

Wallace White is not happy. He should have been home before dawn, but heavy rain near Heidenheimer caused No.53 to be late into Brownwood, where Wallace started his day, and he has her gliding down the hill into Caprock, where he'll hand the engine off to another Engineer. Mrs. White has been married to Wallace for over 40 years, and she knows how to improve his disposition. Her brother is the Second District Dispatcher, and she has already called him to get an OS on No.53.  She’s cutting biscuit dough as Wallace splits the pair of searchlight signals. Hot coffee, biscuits and gravy, eggs, and breakfast sausage from Klemke’s Sausage Haus will be ready, as soon as Wallace comes into the house. She knows the crotchety old rascal well!

FOR TODAY:  REA is still delivering packages that were sent out late by folks who procrastinate and those who had too much to do before  Christmas day.  None - the - less REA will get those packages delivered as quickly as possible!

FOR TODAY:  It's all about clearing the snow from the rails.  Ardsley, Eugene, and Homer are working an extra shift.  Here they are beginning to unload some food provisions to put in their camp kitchen car ( not shown ).  It's going to be a long week battling the white stuff on the Mountain Division.

That's  OK  Tom , we could all use  aaauuto - adjusstiingg  glasses .

I came across a train shop out of NJ, All Aboard Train Shoppe, that has a nice online reference to Lionel products.  Their website has a listing of Lionel train sets by year from 1945 to 1969.  So I looked up my original set from 1955, and it appears I still have all the original cars.  Still have the 1033 transformer for it as well.

That's the set just behind the saw mill.  Caboose, crane, gondola, tender and 1615 engine.

FOR TODAY:   Lots going on down at the team track today!   First a load of pipe has been transferred from flat car to flatbed trailer.  

A boxcar load of brand new Studebakers is now being unloaded. ... just another day on the railroad!

@Randy Harrison - I got it Randy, thanks for the tip on how to pull up the video.  I really enjoyed the "train ride" thanks for posting.

@Carpetrainman- You really do know how to do that snow effect, it was great.  I hope our fellow train fans in Buffalo are OK that really was the storm of the century.  Fortunately in Texas we only had cold but it got one of my water pipes luckily I could fix it myself. It was 13 drgrees!  Never heard of such temperatures in central Texas.

FOR TODAY:  West bound N&W Y6b passes an east bound Reading Train Master circa 1951 ... a time when steam, diesel electric, and electric technologies all coexisted on the rails.   ... just another day on the railroad during the transition era!

Otto, the Token Switch operator finds a nice surprise birthday present provided by the Shed Crew, after returning to the control room after getting a cup of tea’.. Happy Birthday Otto’…😜

Hi Arnold,

If I recall correctly, I found these on one of the diecast web sites.  Keep in mind you have to paint these figures.  All the others are from Model-U out of Great Britain'..

I'll see if I can find the site that has these figures.  They measure out to roughly 1/41 scale'... A tad larger than 1/43, and quite a difference to 1/48..

Otto is 1/43.5, you can see the difference'..
