Lee, I like your new (to you) NKP Bay Window caboose. Sorry to hear it was damaged when it arrived (some people are just cheap and lazy when it comes to shipping) but, glad you was able to fix it, so you can enjoy it. I've always liked that paint scheme.

Rusty thanks but the smoke element gets to hot and the side of it got really hot I was afraid it was going to melt the side so I shut it off. I really like the details

Lee, I have a couple of cabooses that have smoke unit's, but have never tried them. I've seen to many pictures of meltdowns on this forum to take a chance on ruining a nice looking caboose.

I seen one like yours when I visited Pat's Trains in Wheeling, WV. last year, I should have bought it. But, I wanted the trolley car I purchased, more at the time.

For today:  "Crew of  C&O 0-8-0 and caboose get ready for departure." This is aK line smoking caboose.  Luckily when I realized the roof, around the smoke jack, was at the very cusp of beginning to melt, I picked the car off the track and let it cool.  Then I switched the smoke off.  Whew!!  Never switched the smoke on again!   All my K line cabooses with smoke have this same issue with smoke units/melting roof.IMG_0396

I really like your roadside scenery, Ray, in your above photo. The down and dirty look of it makes it seem very real to me.

Here is one of my favorite scenic photos of my layout. The row boats and rowers are much smaller than O Scale but I think it still works because of forced perspective with the boats set back from the viewer:

Patrick same problem like you I caught it in time but not before it melted the roof around the stack
