Dad had a used ( preowned ) Studebaker many years ago. I remembered being fascinated by that rear window.
We didn't live by the tracks but dad worked at a planing mill which was adjacent to the tracks . The box car in your scene made me remember them rumbling by while I waited for dad to get out of work.
( I was kinda scared that they might come off the tracks.........sort of like my present experience on the layout. 
)
Many years ago to my surprise Alco also built automobiles.

Thanks Dallas. My Mom and Dad had one too same year as this one but it was way before my time. Glad I could jar some good memories I really like that car. The Boxcar is a very old Atlas O Scale

Boy the team tracks in Patsburg always seem to be bustling with activity. Local business is keeping those rails polished.

Denny, Great photo! I see a lot of action going on in the yard, but best of all I see that there is a BN and BNSF engine working hard!
FOR TODAY: Farmer Hokie Joe Willis has always been one who believes: " The early bird gets the worm." He wakes up way before the crack of dawn to drive his produce to the railroad's produce terminal. Here we see Hokie Joe and his truck are the first to arrive at the terminal yesterday morning. Ol Hokie Joe even beat the terminal personnel as he's waiting for someone to unlock the gate. This is standard practice for Hokie Joe. Good thing his wife Edna sent him on his way with a fresh thermos of hot coffee. The first slither of light is just now appearing as Hokie Joe waits for the terminal to open. ( This is another natural light photo. Click on image to enlarge. ) 
Patrick, Hokie Joe, must have a wonderful farm! Looks like his truck is pretty new, so I am guessing that Sunshine Farms is doing really well!

Way too nice of a fall day in the Silicon Valley and greater San Francisco Bay Area to stay at home and work on the model railroad layout, so my son and I went and road on a train. Niles Canyon Railway (ncry.org) powered by steam today, non other than the Skookum #7 2-4-4-2 articulated engine manufactured by Baldwin in 1909. The Skookum #7 is on loan to the PLA (Pacific Locomotive Association) that operates the NCRy from the Columbia River Belt Line Railway in Oregon. From what the conductor told me it's staying in the NCRy for a couple of years, so I'll have another chance to ride it again. Today was perfect for the open air rail cars, loved it. Here's some photos from todays excursion. It's not a long ride, as the rail line goes between Sunol and Niles, which is about 8 miles. For those in the nearby Bay Area, the Skookum #7 will be running again next weekend the 16th and 17th twice a day. Tickets can be purchased online only, so to to NCRy.org.

October is the best time of the year in the Bay Area! Our daughter and son-in-law lived up there a few years ago
and we miss visiting the area.

The museums are now open in southern California and the Nethercutt Collection is one of my favorite.
It is a car museum but they have a beautifully restored Hudson 4-6-4 locomotive.

FOR TODAY: It's a Columbus Day Monday morning. A glance westward from the east side of the tower reveals a N&W J class coming off the service track and about ready to take the main. 
A bit overcast this Monday morning. The MOW dept cars have been set out on team track one which will serve as their base of operation over the next several days. It's going to he a busy week for the MOW crew as they have lots of repair work today before the harsh winter months set in. 
Jeffery, those are some great shots! Maybe when it gets back up north here I can talk the wife into going to see it!

It's October 12 and this guy has already gone up the mountain and chopped down a Christmas tree.
By the time he drives back down to the city he will have a skeleton tree , just in time for Halloween!

Jeffery, if the tree survives the trip have him do what I once did .
Many years ago I did a real tree for Christmas . I hung it under my deck as usual and hosed it down to get rid of bugs and dead needles. I then sprayed it with a product that was supposed to keep plants from giving off too much of their moisture.
Just on a whim I had it up in a bucket in the livingroom with water and ........Miracle Grow !
Jeffery after the decorations were off and about a month after we had put it up.....the darn thing was growing shoots with needles about 3 inches long. 🤤
I grew tired of it and threw it out but often wondered if it would have grown roots

Thank Mike g.!! That red truck is the one Scamp Adams, the division MOW foreman, has been driving for the last several years. Yep, ol Scamp gets around!

Word is, this winter will be a harsh one and of course if that proves true, the elements will take a toll on the railroad if this work is not completed. Here it is practically midnight and these fellas are still at it. I'm sure they don't mind the overtime though! Such it is ... working on the railroad!

The light seems to soften up the look of scenery similar to a light overcast day. The green on the passenger cars works well visually with the overall scene . Nice work.

Our living room layout is 16 by 28 feet. With 48 ceiling mounted track lights using 13 watt fluorescents at 5,000 K or near sun light temp. I have changed about 20 % to 13 watt LED's 5 K. My brother in law and my wife are the artists that created the work. I did the track layout and wiring.

Thanks so very much Dallas. No photo shopping here, I only use what I have on the layout. I bought that Chevy truck at York a few years ago from Die Cast Direct. I agree, it is an amazing truck!
FOR TODAY: Circa 1951: On this somewhat hazy morning a westbound Train Master meets an east bound Hudson pulling a passenger consist. Just another day on the railroad.

Donny T, wow I see your railroad it trying to everything it can to help clear the back up in the ports and to get product to market! Please thank you crews! Also wonderful little train platform, looks like a really nice relaxing area to just sit and wait or just to watch the trains go by!
Patrick, It's nice to see the guys working hard to get things ready for winter, from what everyone is saying were to have a wetter and colder winter with a chance of a lot more snow then normal!
I guess that's why all your passenger trains are full and I have an idea that alot of them are heading south for the winter! LOL Dang SNOWBIRDS!

Great detail Patrick.
Another great canvas with the close up on the left and moving all the way back to the hills and sky. Hard to not want to walk into the forground and travel along the rails deep into the area of the buildings.
