Purchased my first 2 Williams locos (and first 2 diesels to boot!) and, gotta say, these are great little engines. No frills, no spills ... just rock solid conventional pullers that run for days. Had set my hopes ... well, not low exactly, but not asking for the world. They exceeded my expectations with room to spare. All that, at an appealing price point.

Don't get me wrong: I love my MTH PS3s (with upcoming WIU control) and LC+ Lionels, and I'm champing at the bit for this year's delivery of Lionel's LC2.0+ Berkshire and GG1. I am simply impressed with how Williams works "within their lane" and delivered a great product.

My Williams scale Hudson easily out pulls the MTH scale Hudson.  The difference seems to be traction tires on both the front and rear drivers.  Why can’t other manufacturers add more traction tires to increase pulling power?  Sure, the MTH Hudson looks nicer side by side but that advantage diminishes once the trains are operating with the swiftness of the real Hudsons and the MTH locomotive starts struggling with 6 or 7 heavyweights.  The same load does not even slow the Williams Hudson.

I have many Williams engines and are my favorite during our club shows BUT  good luck finding parts when they break.  Biggest problem I see on the diesels is the receiver gear in the truck strips  Happened on three different engines   No parts available   Wound up buying junkers for parts to scrounge up parts   They have a persistent zinc pest problem with their truck sideframes too

Traction tires! Not a selling point here. Bleh! But, to each his own.

Williams engines, not my thing, I get bored without all the bells, whistles and smoke but I am glad you guys are happy.

There's always ERR to add TMCC ( bells and whistle and command )

I like them, as I run both command and conventional. To me there a good running reliably engine.  The only thing I didn't like about them was the preset horn/whistle sequence. You had no control over it, it was set up for a crossing. The real older ones didn't have that, nor does the newer ones from what I understand. Also the real older ones, some have what they called sound, it would give a your clears to go and the engines would respond, ( this was in some models as a added feature, the rest just had horn I believe.
