A SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT FROM MENARDS....AND....OGR!!!

Do you need Black and White or Color photos? I have several shots but many are in Black and White.

In this day and age of digital photography, why would you shoot only in b&w? Always shoot in color. You can convert it to b&w any time.

I have the color raws, I just prefer the final product in black and white. I have several images that I don't like the way they look in color.

Send both and hope everyone agrees 

They don't want to show you with one blue sock one green sock and a lampshade cap.

Unless I missed it (which is entirely possible), the catalog insert was not included for digital subscribers. Are those of us who are digital simply out of luck here? I sure hope not; I’d love to browse it.

For me I feel that certain b&w pictures can actually stand out better than colour, they can show greater detail with more depth, just a personal view for me.

Hi Aldovar,

You can post whichever photos you think look the best. That's up to you.

That being said, we are looking for images we can use in advertising. Typically (but not always) those would be in color. I do appreciate the artistic nature of black and white photos though!

Rafi....we include a lot of extras for our digital subscribers....but this was a separately produced and printed catalog.  If you would like one, run 313 is available for separate sale on our website.

Question for you. on the flying saucer  that is in the air what did you use and how did you make the cone on the under side? i have been trying to figure out how to do that for one that i have

Hi Kevin, all I did was take a pilsner glass and carefully removed the bottom.  Turned it upside down, added a light on the inside and voila.....instant tractor beam!.....heres a close up!

Or, lots of plastic pilsner glasses available on the web....

Vases too; glass or plastic; tinted colors; Dollar stores...Menard's... and there you can order the real deal if you strike out

I just have to say that when the old o-gauge track is done correctly on the right layout, it's outstanding.  Cabinet Bob's layout is beyond outstanding.  It's fantastic.

These are some of the best values to be found! Menards buildings are extremely popular with River City 3 Railers (Midlothian, Va). I'm only sorry that the RC3R 12x15 project isn't complete. We have 14 Menards buildings that will be featured on that layout.

Well I was hoping Menards purchased MTH. 

There are a lot of good photos here, but I’m going to make a suggestion. Get your cameras lower. Instead of shooting down on your layout, take some shots from in your layout.

“Helicopter” shots are not great for advertisers. They make their products look small.

Thanks for the inspiration to build a city!  The thought didn’t exist until you launched the series of buildings.

A few more  from the industrial  area.

Adding a couple of mine on the Shady Hollow Scenic Railroad. 

Love that tractor trailer rig Dad! Hope it's in the will! LOL

I've enjoyed fitting the Menards buildings, some I can use the "tunnel" feature, and some I don't...here's a few shots.

We wrapped up construction on a 18.0' x 9.0' walk-in S Scale that featured several Menards structures. The center piece was the locomotive engine shed with LED interior lighting and exterior NEON signs. The building was accented with some original American Flyer light towers and fuel tanks, but building fit right in and looked fantastic.

We are currently constructing a 48.0' x 19.5' Custom O Scale 3-rail layout for a client in Cincinnati. The pike has a considerable amount of rail, but what space has been designated for structures are filled with Menards industrial structures. A total of six Mendards structures will be placed on the layout including:                                      Sprecher Brewing - National Power & Light - Schneider Freight - Vetter Sash & Door - Wally's Service Center - Pepsi Bottling Plant

Hi Alan, I assume that the special Menard's catalog now shown on the OGR home page is also one included in the printed copy of OGR #313?  If it is, a VERY BIG Thank You!  Little things, such as posting this catalog on the OGR home page no less, is what makes OGR such a great magazine.  The Very Best to you and the entire OGR crew.

I am an OGR Digital subscriber and would VERY MUCH like to have a copy of the 24 page Menard's catalog insert.  If I overlooked it in the digital run 313, please let me know where it is.  Otherwise, in the interest of fairness might you provide a digital version of the catalogue, or at lease mail a paper version to me/us please?  I love Menard's train products and Christmas is coming . . . $$$

1. What was the cost for the table construction?

2. I'm drooling over that shelving unit on the wall ... but how do you guys plan to get trains off of it !?!
