I recently picked up a pair of Standard Gauge gondolas; both are 11 1/4" long.

One is marked #12:

12 side

12 bottom

12 number

12 wheel

...very clean solder joint:

12 weld

The other is marked "112":

112 side

112 bottom

112 number

...much different brakewheel:

112 wheel

...and a much poorer solder job:

112 weld

The TCA book says the 112 was made in 7" and 9 1/2" lengths, yet this is 11 1/4".

I suspect the 12 is original (given its condition); the 112 is a "12" that was "restored" (given its condition) with a "112" stamp.

Any guesses here?

Also, what would be the correct trucks for these? I tried a pair from a 9 1/2" 112, but they looked too small...
