With Father's day just around the corner, I think it would be a great tribute to all our dads (living and deceased) to make Father's day a Postwar day.  A day to run some of those postwar classics that have been gathering dust on the shelves.  To remember back when our dads got us started into this great hobby.  My dad may be long past, but not a day goes by that I don't think of him when I run my trains.

So here's to you dad.  Thank you!  Enjoy the scent of smoke pills, ozone, ZWs, and that classic buzzing Eunit.    Thank you for all you did for me and starting me into this great hobby.

I'll second that.  I still have both my mother's and my father's original Lionel train sets (One from the late Twenties, the other from the mid-Thirties), as well as the Lionel set that they -- er, I mean Santa -- brought me in 1951.  A hearty Thank You to all concerned!

I lost my dad last year.  He and his father are the reason I am here (in more ways than one).  My grandpa gave me my first Lionel train (which was his first Lionel train, an inexpensive tinplate O set from the 30's) for Christmas in 1974, and my dad started buying MPC era sets starting the following year to add to our Christmas tree layouts.  As an adult, my dad gave me his first train - a 50's 773 Hudson passenger set.  Some day, I will have to run them again.

I lost my Dad from wounds  he suffered in WWII when I was five and My Grandfather when I was twelve.  I came to the realization a long time ago that they were the finest men I have ever known.  Both of them were instrumental in my development as a train lover.  I still have all of their train sets and still run them from time to time.  When I am running my trains both of them are always with me.
