thought there was some other phrase for coupling several engines together I'd heard somewhere.....

Marty, with all that smoke is there an exhaust fan nearby!

Holy Choke a Smoke ! I new the 844 put some smoke out, but those GP's can set off a smoke alarm in another room!

I'll add in the 2-10-4 tonight. Unfortunately I can't reach the exhaust fan anymore.

And just FYI to achieve that level of smoke I used Lionel premium smoke fluid, added it to a cold 844, removed the hatches on the GP7s and added the fluid right into the units,

That's a great video, but I never could understand making model diesels smoke. In the real world, smoke coming out of a diesel exhaust indicates an engine that needs maintenance...especially if it's WHITE or BLUE smoke!

I saw your website story regarding the smoke unit gasket issue on the GP7's but how do you remove the hatch section? Any trick to it? Didn't want to snap something off.

My motto is "smoke 'em if you got 'em."

Actually I run smoke on low normally but wanted to demo the premium smoke in diesels. Most videos too I tend to crank the smoke. Drives guys like you nuts and thrills the kids!

Carefully use your finger nail to get a small separation of the hatch. Once it starts it lifts out with a snap. Just be careful of the decorative horn.

I wish there was a way to get dark smoke out of the stacks ... I think it would be cool. Living in NJ, I saw MANY old diesels in disrepair belching away, as ConRail was being formed. (And,as a boy in high school, I drove a few $100 specials with leaking piston rings and head gaskets, too. Lol)
