Add ERR Forum?...UPDATE 5-23-2018....

I'd like to suggest we consider adding a forum for ERR related issues.

Electric RailRoad (3rd Rail) Installation and Configuration might be a good title.

Lots of questions come up in the thread announcing 3rd Rail's picking up the ERR line, this would be a good place to separate the installation and configuration questions from ordering and the like.

Original Post

I think with the recent changes, an ERR forum is probably justified.  Good suggestions John.

May be the first time ever I have disagreed with Gun Runner. I would not want to see ERR installation and configuration separate from TMCC as a whole. There is just too much overlap.  The fury over ERR's demise and 3rd Rail's distribution agreement will soon pass and that topic will go dormant in due course. Then we end up with two or more tracks for TMCC installation and configuration discussions. I still see questions related to Train America Studios and Digital Dynamics and TMCC repairs to Lionel equipment, imagine a separate topic track for each of these. It would make it more difficult to keep up with all the TMCC and other control systems discussions going on.   J

All the full-sized ERR TMCC boards have always had 100 speed steps.  This includes the Cruise Commander, AC Commander, and the DC Commander.  The Cruise Commander Lite also has 100 speed steps.

I don't see any reason to add speed steps, you get great control with 100 steps.

My first reaction was to agree with GunrunnerJohn, but on second thought I agree with JohnAction as stated above. These products are a product of a common evolution and are significantly interrelated in application.  I reluctantly and respectfully disagree with GunrunnerJohn who knows a whole lot more about this than I do. Hope the forum gets the ok from Lionel and 3rd Rail. I think there's a lot of things we could do with it. I know barely anything about ERR so would be nice to learn everything there is to know.

As said above....I will meet with the parties involved to see if they feel it would be of benefit to have a separate ERR thread.  As stated above, their are two sides to this story and some things to consider.  Both Scott and Lionel at this point are early on in how this will work out so I will report back after meeting with them.

As I promised above...I am updating you all as to the question of a separate ERR category.  Based on a discussion between OGR and the parties involved, it was requested that we do not have a separate ERR category.  It was expressed that since ERR product is closely associated with TMCC due to the nature of the use of the product,  ERR discussion/questions should take place on the Lionel/TMCC category.  In order to facilitate that end, I offered to include/add ERR in the title of that category.  Thanks for your interest everyone!!
