I have an MTH E8 ABA unit, 20-2237, and would like to add another B unit of the same model.  I want to know if this would cause any problems using DCS?  Or cause the slave A not to work.  Currently the ABA units are all tethered together via the little plugs.  Has anyone done this?  The B unit is a dummy, but would tethering two B units cause any issues.

Thanks

Tony

Hi Tony,

As long as the tether wires are solid and correctly soldered from the factory.  I have a Baltimore and Ohio E-8 PS 2.0 ABA and an additional add on B unit in which faulty tether wires in each B unit straight from the factory shorted out the board two times in the slave A unit.  Fortunately the repair was covered both times under warranty.  When the wires were resoldered my repair guy hot glued the wires in place to avoid any future issues.

I want to try the opposite of this... I want to take a B unit out and just run 2 A-units (because I think the 3unit consist is having trouble navigating my curves...it slows down dramatically on the two curves).

If I'm reading this right, and the tethers are pass throughs, I should be able to do this.  Does anyone know any reason why not?  BTW, it's a 30-20034-1 F3 ABA PS2.0.

Thanks, as always!
