I wanted to create a waterfall and bought a bottle of Woodland Scenic C1212.  Per instructions, I laid down strips of this on a teflon sheet and used a toothpick to mix the strips together in a 12" x 1.5"  long strip and about a round toothpick thick.  So 24+ hours later the thin edges are clear but the center section is still snow white and everything is dry to touch.  I can start to peel it off the tray without breakage.  Did I make it too thick or does it just take LOTS of time to cure, and how do I know when its done (opaque, translucent, transparent?)

So what am I doing wrong as I "thought" it was to dry more or less translucent not opaque?  Second, what paint should I use to color/tint this assuming material holds paint?
