I have a couple of the Aerotrains, I'm converting one to TMCC so I have a PS/3 and a TMCC model.  Yes, they were made by MTH, and the oddball rear truck is responsible for the issues with running.  I've had to do quite a bit of "tuning" to make them run decently, not the best design that was ever conceived.

They are a neat looking consist, and I get a lot of comments on it at our modular club shows, so it's worth the trouble.  I have added cars to mine, I have ten cars to make a consist just like the prototype ran.

How did you handle the lighting in both the locomotive and the Observation. pics of the 1:1 obs show 1 red tail light and one clear light.

IDK how the cluster of light on the loco front work. Were two pairs of lights ocelating like a mars light and the other two were headlights? Is it possible to light the class light in front of the number board or is a body sprue in the way? Inquiring minds want to know!

For the PS/2 locomotive, I put ditch lights on the outside lighting locations, the PS/2 board has ditch light outputs.

For my TMCC model, I'll use the AD-20 Ditch Light board to add ditch lights to that one.

I an going to install my remote control set to control the observation car lights, it's a perfect application.

The 4-channel transmitter will go in the locomotive and be connected to the front and rear lighting outputs.  It'll be programmed to turn on only one light, and extinguish any others.

The four channel FET receiver will be in the Observation car and turn on either the red light or the white light, based on direction.

I'll take over the two bathrooms in the rear of the observation car for the receiver.
