Hello

Just playing around with some AF and set a switch in line with the track but I did not hook up the switch to the controller.

The train passes thru fine, however, the switch light does not come on even tho power is applied to the track.

1) Does the switch need to be fully hooked up to the controller to show the switch light?

2) When I manually move the switch to the curved position the light in the bumper at the end of the siding goes on, however, in the straight position the bumper light is off.  Is this the way it was intended to be?

3) On the switch itself, there is another small moveable button/switch that says "train. oper." on one side and "reg. oper." on the other.  What does it mean?

Thank You in advance for any replies.

Much appreciated.

 Hello Soo Line!

AF switches are not like Lionel switches, in that they require the 4 wires from the controller hooked up.

The "train oper" and "reg oper"  allow the spur track to be either powered all the time(reg) or power off(train oper), when turned straight, the curve is dead. This is an awesome feature by AC Gilbert.  Hope this helps .... Al
