3D Scanners have so far been prohibitively expensive for home use, but I just saw this add from Banggood. $650 is not too bad.
No idea how well this would work, but it would be really handy to scan stuff like engine detail parts, and scale figures for instance. The trouble with figures from a cad design perspective is there are no straight lines or flat surfaces. So this might be just the ticket to be able to scan such things and create an .stl file to print your own from. Anyone ever used any type of 3D scanner? And how well did it work?
