All Aboard Plasticville Buildings

All I know plus a lot more is contained on the americanflyerdisplays.org website. There are historical pictures of the prototypes on that site. This site also has a link to a dedicated site for the AllAboard sets. I was not aware that the buildings were sourced from Plasticville (Bachmann). They appear to be a different basic design.

Thank you, I have been all over that site and learned quite a bit from it.   In fact that is where I read that a the house in the photo on the 26122 Whistle panel may not h=ave ever been produced.  

I agree the buildings are significantly different and smaller than the few Plasticville pieces I have, thus my questions.

I have attached a picture of the Whistle Panel house, on a panel, VS on the box.

I talked with Doug Peck yesterday about houses for AF All Aboard panels.  He also believes they were specific to the All Aboard line.

So my next question is:  Has anyone seen any buildings other than the white ranch with the red roof, and the tan colonial with the blue roof?

I have some NOS buildings in a storage crate. I will look later today. No idea from memory what the colors are.

George, I have a full schedule today and will be away until Monday so I quick looked in the storage crate with some Pikemaster in it. There was only one building plus some accessories and track. It is white with red trim and a green roof that has a lot of blue in the color. These are definitely not Plasticville and there were no identifying marks I could spot.

Very nice building, I do have two of those but they both have red roofs.

The other building I have is the tan one with the blue roof, like the picture I posted above.  

That may be the only two buildings AF used, even though the All Aboard boxes show many different colors as well as that L shaped Rancher.

Thank you for sharing the picture of your original set.  This confirms a few things, the pictures on the box includes buildings that may have never been built by AF, and the "colonial house" came in multiple colors.   And no L shaped Rancher with the whistle panel?

It doesn't seem that any of the produced buildings are like those shown on the box art. Perhaps they used mockups prior to production. There's that barn with silo to consider as well. Hobby Surplus used to sell the AB houses years ago. Perhaps they still do?

I jut picked up an HO plasticville barn that looks very much like the one in your photo, but is yours a plasticville piece.  Is the silo attached?   I was on one of  Amato's sites last night and didn't find anything, but I will look again.

The Westerner Set is buried in the upstairs of the garage and pretty inaccessible at the moment so I can't readily answer your question on the barn. That said, I've never had any inclination that these buildings are Plasticville in origin. I have a couple of old Hobby Surplus catalogs (my wife says I never throw anything out...she's right!) and it appears they were still selling All Aboard and James Bond scenery in 1996.

I wish I was one of the high school kids that spent the summer sorting and cataloging all those flyer parts.  It is an amazing story.  That is a great page you posted from their catalog, I didn't even know they had one.

I went through the parts list again today, looks like most of the plastic stuff is gone, other that doors, windows etc.    I posted the link below, and not sure if there are other sites for their parts.
