I recently purchased two all nation locomotives. One is a 2 8 2 Southern and a F5 loco unpowered but b unit is powered. both are in running condition but missing some parts Anybody have some info for me. Years built possible parts?  I did find out it will run on mth track when wired to outside rails.  Thankyou Roy O

I don't know who produced your 2-8-2 but All Nation never offered a 2-8-2 model.   It may be a Hines Lines loco.  If it is, Stevenson Preservation Lines should have parts for it and the last time I checked they were still offering this model in kit form.

All Nation sold kits for F-3 and F-7 diesels both A&B units.  They have not been produced for several years and if my memory is correct, the dies to make them were destroyed.  These units are fairly common and you may have to find a basket case to rob parts from.  What is missing?  The geared power trucks were really well made.  I never liked the chain drive version they offered as the plastic sprockets would split and slip on their shafts.

The all nations are in good condition. problem b unit is powered a unit is a dummy. like to find a powered eng to transplant power to my A unit as they both have a nice Southern paint. I did find a unpainted casting A unit but motor was a 3 rail. I am surprised the steamer has not been pos identified. Still tracking down leads.  Thanks for the leads.  Roy

Some (decent) photos would certainly help...

The 2-8-2 is definitely not All Nation.    As mentioned above, they never did a 2-8-2 and the underside is not their style of mechanism.

The frame looks like a Max Grey or USH cast frame.     I think HInes locos had fabricated frames.    The gear box does not look familiar.    It is not USH because theirs was cast and KTM markings cast in.    It might be a NWSL upgrade.    Neither USH or Max Grey did a mikado that I know of either.

The detail looks very much like a brass import.     It might be a kitbash.    Another thought is that Sunset back in the 80s I think did a very nice USRA 2-8-2 model.    It came unpainted but a modeler of custom painted could have painted it.

The F5/F3 A unit looks like the gearboxes were stripped out.    AN sold dummy units with plain axles not geared axles.    They often sold the As unpowered so modelers could install cab detail.     As mentioned above these units oftewn show up at shows in various condition, and you could probably pick one up for parts to power this at a 2-rail O scale show.    there is a big one coming up in March in the Chicago area (Lombard).
