I picked up this prewar American Flyer bridge in the Red Hall:

MikeH, how did the cleaning work out?

Still a work in progress.  The carnauba cleaner wax did a nice job and gave the tin a nice shine also.  I can't get access to the area under the rails so I'm considering removing them so I can give it a more thorough cleaning.  Also, I discovered that a previous owner used nails as track pins.  Some of the nails are jammed down inside the track.  So I'm left to wonder, would it be so wrong to simply replace the rails?

No, it is not bad to replace them with the additional issues you found. AF 3 rail track and ties are slightly different than Lionel. Were it me I would cannibalize a good piece of AF track for the replacement rail. That bridge is in fantastic shape.

Well, I didn't get to York, but I was fortunate enough to purchase a 1953 factory display layout, #150, from the original owner that remembers finding his dad and older brother assembling the layout in their basement before Christmas. Soon I'll have it all back together too! First picture from the sellers attic and second from my garage as it would have come with all the accessories etc.

Picked up a few things from York. A nice mint 23032 accessory kit with all the inserts.

A nice 499 with the drilled out holes variation.

Modern Lionel Heritage unit.

Kit built reefer that was too good to pass.

I've been chasing this for years, the only one I saw.

Couldn't pass this up for $45. Engine serviced, runs and smokes great, needs a bell and some red tape. Coach is OK, baggage is rough.

Picked this up a week earlier, something I missed when it came out.

Are you certain about that? Prewar AF track pins have ends that have four flats on them. They look like nails.

I am certain they're nails.  They have the points.  I didn't know that about AF track pins though.  It has some of those too.

Prewar AF track pins have nail points at both ends (visible and internal to the tubular rail).
