Does anyone have a wiring diagram of the Electronic E unit used in the 1980's Alco SP, BO or Erie that had AC motors?

Ed, Bill Clark did an article for the September/October 2013 S Gaugian in which he outlined the problems with these e units and a solution. If you can get your hands on a copy, that may help. If not you can call them 708 366 1973 and see if you can get a copy. Don will probably try and sell you a subscription though

Ed: I am the S Gaugian writer of the Roundhouse. Cal is right about the article. The E Unit in those engines are not available any more and the motors look like Gilbert's but are not. They have double wound fields. My article tells how to get an new appropriate eunit and deal with the field.

How about installing a Dallee electronic E-unit?
That is what my article describes. However it takes a special Dailee E-Unit. Look in my article.

I was able to find a electronic board cheap at a train show and figured out the wiring. I now have a wiring diagram for this and Carl drew it up on his computer.

Ed: That E-Unit you have will not work unless it was made especially for the 81 Gilbert like engines. They have a double wound field used only for the B&O & SP. They take a lot more juice after you have isolated the one field wire on both motors.
Hi Bill, I was fixing this engine for someone else and he wanted the original electronics and when the E unit was bought, I made sure it was for the double wound fields. It took me a while to figure out the wiring as nobody had a wiring diagram and when it worked, I sketched a diagram and Carl made the drawing.
