Ron from American Models was at our club meeting Sunday and advised that he has finally obtained his tooling back from China. They are now in the process of determining condition and what they have.

He indicated that some business decision will be made on what is next. If I heard right he first wants to run the trailers that were promised for the flatcars for one of the Fests or club offerings and some trucks.

Not all of their stuff was made in China. Some of the cars and engines were made here. I also believe track was not affected by the China closing.

We will see.

It's rather confusing when looking at the boxes.

I've got a set of scale Burlington U25B's clearly marked "made in China" while the box for a set of New Haven AC compatible U25B's have no such marking. Same thing with the E8's. My Texas Special E8 box is marked "made in China" while the box for my Burlington E's aren't. (Both sets scale.)

The Northern's boxes are marked "made in China," while the Pacific's aren't.

So... What does all this mean???

It means regardless of where these and my other AM locomotives were made, they all have been trouble-free. As long as AM keeps the quality up, they've got a customer in me.

(But, given the current climate, it might behoove AM to tout their Made in America products.)
