Looking for some help before I expand further.  Have a 4' x 8' Polar Express set layout.  Along with engine (which we run off of iPad), have 5 lighted cars, lighted platform and want to add lighted flagpole and auto gateman.  Can anyone provide an approximate total amps needed - and preferably an approximate amp breakdown.  This is only a temporary set up for the holidays and am trying to avoid too much wiring - looking for easy set up.  The original set came with the DC 54 watt wall pack (ie 3 amps).  Debating if I should upgrade to the DC 72 watt wall pack (4 amps) or set up a 180 watt powerhouse to do it all.  Some info on line indicates you can hook up both DC wall packs on the same layout. True?

A good amperage estimate will help this novice! (and any other advice to keep things easy and simple...)

Do NOT try to connect the two DC power packs to the track at the same time!  I doubt that Lionel or anyone that understands what's in them would subscribe to that notion.

I'd just use the PH180, it has an excellent circuit breaker, and it certainly won't be overloaded.  The 3A is marginal, and why spend money if you already have a very suitable power supply in hand?
