Mel, You are amazing.  I must have gone by that depot several hundred times before moving to upstate New York.  Thanks for the memories.

The town uses the station for certain types of group activities. Here is a close-up photo of the station.

Great video!  The structures in the background are coal silos, once common and now rare.  The first car is an ex-Metroliner control cab, 55 years old and still making several trips a day.

Wallingford is a very nice suburban town that was incorporated in 1670. The State of Connecticut restored the rail infrastructure and upgraded the train service about five years ago. They built several new stations with high-level platforms and parking areas. The older stations were not easily modernized or adaptable to high-level platforms and probably could not have been made compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. I also think that the town of Wallingford wanted to keep the station in its original form.
