I know that Amtrak will be running Amtrak through Roanoke in the near future.
I heard their was an accident involving a test train and some construction equipment. Is there any updates on if they will continue the route for Amtrak through Roanoke?

It was a relatively minor sideswipe collision. If I recall correctly it was a backhoe that got into some trouble trying to get off the right-of-way and didn't quite clear the track. As far as I know, the test/crew qualification runs are still ongoing.

Alexandria-Roanoke service would be awesome for both cities.

Thanks for the info, I couldn't find any news about it. I found out from one of my buddies who is back there for school about the accident

The backhoe drove off a bridge onto the tracks below? Crazy.
The rear wheels started chattering coming downhill under braking and he lost control as he came unto the bridge.
