The fresh paint really brought it back to life. Looks like it would fit right in on the B&M.

Very cool! It's almost similar colors to the late prewar AF station colors.

The original guy, he's in rehab. A previous owner had stuck a sewing pin through his chest to try to reattach his arms. I've properly reattached the arms filled the hole in his chest and now I'm repainting him. Just this afternoon he got a nice Royal blue suit.  I'll probably end up using him in another 45 that I'm repainting as the figure that came in it was hollow and has no back. The figure I'm rehabing is one of the original carved wooden ones so it should look really nice in a redone gateman shed.

The crossing is a great idea.

   Due to so many ill placed shacks over time, for many years growing up, I thought the flagman was signaling the train.

  Placement of the crossbucks on the left didn't help my confusion. Logic for me dictated, those should have been between the road and shack, facing away from the tracks to the road. Everone had them on the outside edges, usually in the distance, and facing the tracks to be seen well. It made less sense than the giant, so I assumed it was just for loco signals, train orders, etc. 

One car and a road would have been enough...never happened.

  I learned correctly about them as an adult researching mailbag, and train order relaying.

I've also been wanting to ad a narrow focus LED under the lantern figure to really light it up the lantern well. The ones with that feature never worked too well with incandescent bulbs. There was nothing to focus a bulb that well, let alone achieve good brightness. The hole there is perfect size, though I would mount it underneath as intended.

Really cool idea and nicely done.

Nice idea. Paul Revere for the Gateman?

Here is a gateman I picked up at a train show about 5 years ago.  

It was in good condition and I fortunately did not have to do anything to it.

By the way nice paint job on your gateman.

I just started a second one for the other side of my floor layout. Eventually I'm going to make one of them into a scenic plot so I can add a street light, a crossing gate, and a bell ringer warning and have them all wired together. After that I've got a 116 hopper and a 112 gondola that I picked up from a train show junk box for a dollar each that need to be redone and brought back to life. I can't decide on the paint schemes on these but it will end up being one of my favorite roads, either B&M, NH or D&H.
