Create your 1960-80's unit trains now.  Each car has a removable coal load to give you the most realistic operation possible.  Note on the C&EI car the unique stamping on the underbelly chutes and having the correct arch-bar trucks.  AND as a plus each C&EI car will be stamped "When empty return to Mt. So. The C&EI. Or as I said when I picked this car up. “The Who?”

I don’t often roll the dice on model trains. I like to know the history of the line. The story of the car. What it did. Who it worked for. How accurate it is.

And sometimes you get a railcar because it looks nice.

Once Again Berwyns toys and trains and MTH knock it out of the park. Coal hoppers are always a bit of a drag (get it?) design wise. You’re going to have a black dirty car hauling rocks or a brown dirty car hauling rocks. Yet on occasion it looks just right in a tight consist. I equate a coal car to a nice Slice of pizza. I don’t want a ton of it all the time. But when you’re in the mood for one it’s definitely worth it when you find a good one.

Again the unique local details make this car far more interesting to me than just some random blob of brown to get lost in a long train.

If you’ve made it this far do yourself a favor and give the Folks at Berwyns Toys and Trains a call and reserve your C&EI Coal hopper (or it’s handsome CNW equivalent) today!
