Couldn't a real NYC Hudson be built? I bet if there was enough cash it could be done. There are plans I am sure.

Could it be done? Sure, the Brits built a new A1 and are building a new P2 The A1 Steam Locomotive Trust and some Pennsy guys are building a new T1 The T1 Trust (prrt1steamlocomotivetrust.org) It just requires a boat load of organization, people, and cash.  Are there enough NYC guys that would give the time, money, and effort required to organize and build one? I don't know.

Regulations could also play into building one, local and federal. If there is enough money to do so, anything can be done.

I would certainly contribute. I have not contributed to the T1 project, though. I like the T1, but my heart is not in it. A Hudson project I would support wholeheartedly. I'm not sure that it would take off. Americans in general have no pride in, and even less knowledge of,  their industrial past, unlike the Brits, who are much more correct in their thinking about such matters. I am no big admirer of the Old Country, but they do have far more pride in themselves. Here, it's just self-loathing.

Anyway, I digress - the Hudsonfest is a nice idea, but I live way too far from there (1600 miles SW of there) to attend.

So - I'll join in by showing my bashed Lionel Mercury 5344:

Wish you could make it Gary, ….it’d be nice to meet you in person, ….I’d love to see some of your iron in action,….didn’t Bruk do one of your B&A Hudosns in Legacy?..

Pat

Yes he did, it would be a seven hour round trip.  Something I'm not really interested in doing alone, had plans that weekend anyway.  So I'll be looking forward to all the pics and videos of the event.

I should have the highly anticipated scale Boston & Albany Cabooses and our New York Central Cabooses here for HUDSON FEST.  If you would like to pick up your pre-orders at the show, please let me know so I can set yours aside.  I only have a few Boston & Albany road numbers available.  They won't last long once they are released.  What New York Central model railroads needs more than anything are cabooses! 20-9178920-9179020-9179120-91792

These models are all available on our web site "Custom Run" page.

In 1927, the B&O Railroad celebrated its 100th birthday with a show of a Century of progress. They invited other roads to show off their latest motive power. Naturally, the Central proper sent one of their finest J1 class Hudsons, # 5205 …….Proudly, she passed the review stand, shiny, clean & full of might!….

Here’s your chance to show off your favorite Hudson at Hudsonfest!!….Show off your favorite stock, upgraded, or even heavily modified Hudson locomotive and have a chance to run your engine past our review stand! Judges will be hand picked the day of the event….any 4-6-4 steam locomotive can enter!….this is not a NYC specific event at Hudsonfest!….judging will be based on cleanliness, operation, and just plain ol good looks!….So join us for the Modeler’s showcase at Hudsonfest 2023. Shine up your favorite Hudson, and join in on the fun!…

Best in show winner gets the grand prize of one of Phil’s custom run caboose!….

Highlights of the Modeler’s showcase:

Show & tell: walk around and view the finest collection of stock, & modified Hudsons under one roof!..

Meet the modelers: talk with the who’s who in custom built, modified, & upgraded Hudsons

Run your Hudson: Light the fires!….Run your favorite Hudson on the Club’s fabulous large NYC era layout!…

Judging: Run your Hudson in front of the review stand for a chance at “ Best In Show”

Most importantly: HAVE FUN!!

Pat

I wish I could be there, but alas, too much other things interfering. At least I'll make York this year. Show off some Hudson's for me, will ya?

I plan on forcing ( I mean persuading ) Mario to take lots of pictures & videos of the highlights,…..this event promises to be a lot of fun, …..All of this event is around the launch of Phil’s custom and highly accurate Jubilee Hudson built by MTH Electric Trains ….the whole day sounds like a hoot!…

Pat

We're going to miss not having you.  Next year we're going to move it until later in the year so more people can attend; so don't make plans!

Thanks!

- Mario

If my car cooperates. That has been most of my issues this past year into this year. It just likes to find more ways to be a PITA. Good thing is all that should be coming to an end(knocks on solid oak tree). I'll have to see if I can figure out where to drive and not get a speeding ticket. I have heard for out of state drivers, going up into New York State, they tend to get ticketed more especially if they're from New Jersey.

I am looking forward to tomorrows Hudson Fest gathering at the JR Junction Hobby Shop in Syracuse. The event should have some pretty interesting things going on.  Pat Norcross ( Harmon Shops) will be there representing MTH. The Central New York Chapter of The New York Central Historical Society will be presenting a lot of history on the NYC and their hudson type locomotives. Attendees can enter the best Hudson Locomotive Contest by bringing a Hudson Locomotive from their fleet and entering and running it on their club layout. I expect Pat to give some kind of presentation on the NYC Hudson since his grandfather was a master mechanic in the Harmon Shops north of New York City. It should also give attendees time to shop the Junction Shop for modeling needs like landscaping materials, glues and paints etc. JR Jct is a fully stocked shop. My sincere hope is that model railroaders will support this endeavor because we need our Hobby Shops.  There is a lot planned for our entertainment.   Bill Park

Thank you Bill!  We are anticipating a great day tomorrow with lots of great Hudson modelers and experts.  The club members has put together a big collection of used train stuff at unbelievable low-give-away prices along with a bunch of railroadiana merchandise too!  All the proceeds from the sale is a donation to the Central New York Chapter, National Railway Historical Society, Inc..

Thanks to Bill Park for providing the film projector for our continual New York Central Hudson films presented by Mario.

I can't wait to see the beautiful models coming to Upstate Central New York's Water Level Route.

Do I hear a possible ENCORE GATHERING at the Great New York State Model Train Fair this fall?

Less than 20 minutes out of Syracuse, ….looking forward to meeting up with everyone!…this promises to be a new chapter in 3 rail model railroading!…A gathering of some of the brightest minds bringing authenticity to 3 rail models,…..from the greatest advancements in command & control, detail parts, paint & graphics, we’re gonna cover it all…..

Pat

Rats, no 2 railers!

I just can't make it. I would have loved to be there. Save the parts for me!
