My informal train "club" of 14 guys have all agreed that they would readily pay $200 each to TCA-ED for a dream York experience like this.

$200 for a dream York!!  That's a pipe dream as well!!

Yeah, but it would probably cost $500 per head to pull it off!

Hi Mark.  As they say in TV advertisements, at 7 days "that is less than $29 per day". Don't forget, my fantasy also included meals, snacks and BUDWEISER GIRLS!

I'll put the $200 in the perspective of this New Yorker. When Broadway was open, an average show ticket was around $200. Roundtrip LIRR to Manhattan around $25 (parking would be about the same, choose your poison), half way decent dinner $50.  That is $275 (at best) for an afternoon or evening out, double that to $550 as the Mrs. would be along.

Ski, If such an event could be pulled off for such a price, all of us takers wouldn't be able to fit inside the whole York Fairgrounds! 

Your example of the cost of an event is worth noting.  We are a little less sophisticated around here.  The expensive event is driving down to The Burgh to a Steelers game.  I don't even want to think about paying all that money and sitting out there in the cold along the rivers, when a person can get a better view from their own warm living room.

Playing with numbers some more, if 11,000 of us old farts show up, that would be $2,200,000 gross. Add to that what the dealers and vendors would be charged. A small percentage of the beer sales alone would be...………. (LOL)

I wonder what the Fairgrounds, security, etc costs would be to the ED? The press would be fantastic, I'd guess that there would be significant TCA membership growth too.

In any case, this would be a fantastic replacement for the just cancelled TCA convention and a blast of a Welcome Back after most things closed or cancelled this year.

Quite a dream, if I say so myself!

Maybe a great idea but the normal October York will most likely not happen this year, so keep dreaming Ski it may be the only thing we have.
