Another look at Como on 9/2/2017

After playing roundhouse docent at Como on 9/2/2017 I went on a short trip and wasn't able to work on the images I took.  I did get my video posted first.

Now I was able to select four of the better images from that day and posted them below.  For anyone who has studied the history of Como I still cannot believe the events of this year!  It is truly mind-blowing!

No more work sessions are scheduled for 2017.  We will start work in the spring of 2018.  I'm looking forward to it.  I've met a bunch of new friends who are all committed to a wonderful project.  Please come visit us and help us if you can.

Original Post

Last time I was at Como was 1957 when I drove my newly acquired Chevrolet from Como to

Breckenridge over Boreas Pass.

Two weeks ago we returned to Colorado and enjoyed the drive from Durango to Telluride and a ride on the Durango and Silverton.  Everyone takes photos at Rockwood and here is  mine. And for the RGS fans, a special treat. Lew

Where is Como?  I'm guessing from post above it's in or near Colorado?  I think it would be fun to visit sometime when it wasn't busy and take some photos with vintage camera equipment (c.1900) in b&w.  I've been doing some of that the past month.

Kent, Yes Como is in Colorado.  It started out as the Denver, South Park and Pacific narrow gauge and ended up as part of the Colorado and Southern.  It was torn up in 1938 and we have been relaying track this year and now have an operating steam locomotive.  For narrow gauge fans it is very historic.

Here are two videos I made of the first operations: video 1  video 2
