My USA Trains 1:29 scale B&O 40' PS-1 "Time Saver Service" boxcar arrived yesterday. It is highly detailed all around and is about fifteen inches in length. Doors have nice prototypical latches that actually work. Decoration is first rate. This car matches the diesel sizewise better than the caboose. I am very pleased with this boxcar!
Will try to post a video of the whole train running soon. :-)
A local dealer friend of mine once had a USA Trains diecast Challenger on consignment in his shop, and all I can say is WOWSA! Absolutely stunning model! Charlie Ro did himself proud with those engines!
Thanks for the memory! I had the same B&O Timesaver 40 ft. box car in HO thanks to Athearn. This was in 1962 and cost $1.69 cents more than the regular line of box cars which retailed for $1.49 at the time.
When I joined the U.S. Army Transportation Corps in 1964 after high school graduation I gave my HO to my best friend (RIP) who sold them with his HO to help finance his entrance into two rail O scale. No regrets to this day other than I really miss the huge 200 plus lb. guy.
What would be really neat: A solid string of the cars with different numbers as if they'd just been delivered to the B&O from the factory, so fresh infact you could still smell the paint!
Enjoy your Timesaver car!
TRBB: THAT would be a great sight! :-)
Once again, here is mine (got the last one they had in stock at Charlie Ro's!):

Interestingly, this model is no longer listed even as out of stock! Just glad I was able to get the last one!
My short consist looks great and I will try to do a video in the next few days! :-)
Upon close inspection, the photo I posted of the B&O boxcar is likely NOT the USA Trains model as it lacks the door latches, which are nicely detailed! It did, however, come from a USA Trains ad.
Will post a video of complete train tomorrow! :-)
