I was running my MTH Norfolk Southern OCS consist when all of a sudden, the sound cut out and the engine was unresponsive to the hand held controller.  I’m not sure when the power to the tracks went out but I noticed that none of the passenger car lights were illuminated shortly after the hand held controller quit working.  I checked the usual culprits such as power input (an MTH Z4K), coms between the handheld and the TIU (no TIU found), batteries, AUX power input (an MTH brick), etc.

At this point I removed the TIU from my power distribution center located under the layout (not much fun doing that) and decided to do some bench testing.  It turns out that both of the “Variable Voltage Outputs” are D.O.A.  When tested with a meter, both “Variable Voltage Outputs” showed between 1 and 2 volts while the Z4K was set to 18 volts.  I thought I could remedy this problem using the hand held controller with DCS setup.  No joy.  BTW, both “Fixed Voltage Outputs” function as they should.  Further, I have all of the channels set to “Fixed Voltage Output” because I strictly run DCS on all 3 of my loops.  Additionally, “Variable Voltage Output” channels 1 & 2 controls track 1 & 2 respectively and “Fixed Voltage Output” controls track 3.  All loops are isolated from each other.  The TIU in question is a REV. L.

Is it possible to have this problem fixed or should I just buy a new one?  Any help will be appreciated.  Thank you in advance for your time.
