I have 4 of the new release RS-11’s, 2 of which forget their ID intermittently. One has no sound out of the box but seems to remember who he is. I can live with the ID problem, but I’m biding my time to see how Lionel is handling this which I would believe is probably creating a lot of returns with these and the Alco PA’s. Anyone have any experience they want to share? Are they paying shipping both ways? I’m familiar with one dealer who will remove the RCMC bd. for his customers and ship it to them for either exchange or reprogramming and then reinstall it. Just curious, please no bashing.

I would get an RA from Lionel immediately and have them Fixed Properly, for the amount of money you paid, you deserve to have them working correctly. You can’t resell them to capture part of your investment, you can’t enjoy operating them on your layout the way they should be, You deserve better. I had to return my new Legacy F3 Sante Fe units and Lionel paid shipping both ways, now they run fantastic. I love Lionel and have spent many dollars on their products, they sincerely take good care of me. Your better to deal with Lionel directly than bother with your dealer. Happy Railroading.

Larry, My experience with Lionel Service  is just the same as yours. The few things I have sent them came back with no problems and not one sent back! I’m going to send the one with no sounds back soon and wait a while for the other two. I’ve convinced myself long ago to be patient with these matters. The last thing I want on my gravestone is, “if only his train had worked out of box”!!! Nice layout by the way!
