Frank,

I suggest Tons of Trains in Fountain Hills, AZ.  Short drive from Phoenix.

Visiting from out of state, I've bought multiple items from this fine gentleman, over the course of several visits, going back years.

Large, repeat large, stock of used stuff.

Mike

I understood he passed away, not sure of the stores status. There was a store that closed a few years back that handled both Lionel and MTH, not sure Phoenix has any O shops left if that's what you are looking for.

Yes.  The owner of this store has passed away and the store is no longer open.  The brick and mortar hobby shop landscape here in Phoenix is pretty bleak.  Nothing really out there these days.  However, I will state the the trip to McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park in Scottsdale is worth the visit.  The members of the Paradise and Pacific O scale club are very friendly and are always happy to visit with anyone who seeks them out.

Granted it is a little warm at this time of year down here in the valley, but that means you won't have the crowds.

For anyone thinking of visiting the McCormick-Stillman Railroad park this summer, the hours have been revised at the Model Railroad Building and parts of the park to 8am to 1pm until September due to heat and staff shortages. It is always good to check the web site prior to going, during the summer, upgrades/maintenance and repairs happen during the slack summer which either closes sections of the park or entire park.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays the crew is at the building working on Paradise & Pacific during the mornings and we always enjoy meeting members from the forum, trains are usually running, but we have automated trains on the outer 2 tracks controlled by the public as well as displays initiated by touching a hand next to the display.

Saturdays and Sundays we have assigned members running , if your here then, tell them your from the OGR and get acquainted.

Although I gave up looking for any hobby shops, my daughter, her boyfriend, and I did get the opportunity to visit the McCormick-Stillman Railroad park in Scottsdale.  It was a very nice surprise, and really cool to see the Merci train boxcar.  Please excuse the poor photos as my phone is absolutely awful at taking photos.

Glad you stopped by!  While it was a tad hot this weekend the railroad park is such a great place to visit  Did you tour the Roald Admunsen while you visited?

I believe the car was closed.  I recommend the park a visit for anyone going to the Phoenix area.

One thing to note: The park closes at 1:00pm (opens at 7:00am) during July and August because it hits the high temps later in the afternoon. Even the zoo closes early. I moved to the area in May of last year and finally got out to the park in July. Liked what I saw and have since applied for membership to the P&P. Was there yesterday (7/10) and it was 115 degrees when I rolled out at 1:30pm.
